As the proud new owner of DVDA 6, I was thinking, wishing and hoping that this had been made more do-able in that otherwise unremarkable major number update. We will be feverishly testing this hypothesis in the underground mountain test labs near the Appalachian Trail.

Not quite sure what VideoITguy means. Any valid MPEG2 DVDcompatible file will work with DVDA. I have used files from TMPGENC, StreamZ and Optibase MPEG encoders.

As fas as audio, any valid DVD compatible AC3 or PCM audio file will work.

Compressor has templates for MPEG2 DVD files or you can roll your own.

Same with Bluray files.

That sounds promising. As always, I would like to avoid DVDA recompression and let Compressor do the heavy lifting.

It says it does not support elementary MPEG streams? That can't be right since I do this all of the time. That original FAQ was from 2003 and updated in 2009. I think there is some misinformation even on their own pages.

I just created an M2V elementary stream from Vegas and DVDA imported it fine. I also tested an M2V created by Adobe Premier and it imported fine. I think this FAQ is out of date.

Could be talking semantics over elementary, packetized, and transport streams? No doubt with the proper encoding of MPeg type video there is a possibility it will meet the needs of DVDAPro. Choose your tools.

Hi Dave,
The article is about avoiding recompression in DVDA, not about which files will open, there being many.

DVD Architect does not pass through MPEG Audio natively. It recompresses, whether the stream is elementary or muxed. The only full passthrough support is for AC3 or PCM, and only as a separate stream. I have no doubt that DVDA will open M2V/MPA separate streams, and render accordingly.

Unless something has changed since DVDA Pro 5.0, I think the article is correct.

Yeah, I read it, but it says this

I believe this is incorrect. But otherwise, the article is valid.
