Help: Grey Arrow

Hello,

I have been working on a project with Sony Vegas when I noticed a grey arrow pointing downward on some of my video clips. When I play back these video clips, it seems that if there's any type of animation on it, the animation will start over from the begining.

Here's what I'm talking about:

I would like to know if there's a way to keep the animation playing throughout the whole video without it starting over. If someone could tell me what's causing this as well, I'd love to know.

Thanks in advance,

The arrow (dip) in the timeline means that event (what Vegas calls a clip) has gotten to the end and is repeating itself.
The only way to stop this is to drag the event back until you hit the arrow (dip).
The only ways to keep the animation playing through the whole video is to either re-do it so that it lasts longer or slow it down.

I looked at your clip and what's happening here is the event length is actually 10 seconds long. You have dragged one end, either the beginning or the end, essentially making is last longer. However actually what you are doing is simply repeating the 10 second event over and over, so it's just looping, i.e. beginning at the starting running the 10 seconds, then the down arrow indicates the event is starting over again.

If you want/need the event to last longer without repeating itself, you'll need to increase the length time. In the event on the timeline, click on what looks like a strip of film, green, then a dialogue box opens in which you can change the length.

Oops, I see Mike beat me to the punch.

Ahh I didn't know I could extend the clip like that! That really clears things up. This was driving my crazy.
Thanks to the both of you for the help! :)

Since the event is generated text, you can just ignore that it's looping.

"Since the event is generated text, you can just ignore that it's looping. "

or go into Edit the Media and hit the button to make it the Same Length as the Media on your Timeline.

If there's any animation in the generated media then looping does have to be considered. It can't be ignored, unless it just happens to do exactly what you want it to do, ie. start over from the beginning.
