Not directly, but you can use the two products in tandem. JohnnyRoy has a workflow for this that works for him (I haven't tried it yet, but I need to).

JR - how is that tutorial coming? (What, you're not busy this time of year are ya?) :)

thank you, I am interested to find out some details
hollywood fx may work once I have installed Boris Fx ?
DavidMcKnight schrieb am 16.12.2004 um 20:47 Uhr
Hollywood FX is totally different and separate from anything related to Vegas. Their only common thread is that they deal in video files. JR's method is basically to get your initial cut or transition in vegas, render files, open them in HFX, apply the hfx transition of your choice, render in HFX, bring it back into Vegas, and keep on going.

While all that seems like a lot of manual hooha, JR is working on some
hooha that is a bit more automatic...

Presumably, Hollywood FX is supposed to somehow work with Boris Red via some sort of Premiere relationship.

I have tried to no avail to get this to work.

If someone has a step-by-step procedure as to how to make this work (I have Boris Red) would be very helpful.

I've done the transition rendering way, and yes, it does work, but if one could do it right from within Vegas via Red would be a lot more efficient.

Thanks.

Here is the How to use Hollywood FX Standalone with Vegas tutorial.

Thank you very much, looks very interesting.
I hope that there could be a way of bringing HFX transitions into BorisFX and then into Vegas (real time). I will try this in the next days and let you know
if it worked.

I originally purchased Hollywood FX Silver for my FAST NLE some years ago.

Has some really nice transitions.

Wanted to use it with Vegas 5.0

Fortunately, I had an old copy of Premier 6.0 which uses Hollywood FX as a plugin-in.

I find it works quite well transferring selected Vegas DV files into Premier, use my Hollywood FX transition of choice, and then transfer it back to Vegas 5.0 in DV format.

It's a bit messy, but hey I get the desired results.

I think it is higly unlikely that Hollywood FX will ever become a Vegas plug-in, keeping in mind Pinnacles competive offerings with Liquid Edition (albeit I would be very pleased if I were to be proved wrong).

"Hmmm.....Maybe HFX integration could be included in the next release of UltimateS :) "

Now THAT would be really cool!

As a current user of Ultimate S, do you know something I don't? (only kidding).

Johnny,

Thanks for the tutorial (and the other great info on your site). I have Studio from my pre-vegas days (wow those were tough days :) and got a copy of Hollywood FX Pro (so the wife can have some fun also) but darn if I can figure out how to call HW FX Pro from inside Stuido!

Stuido just keeps running the Basic FX that comes with it. Hate to ask this in a vegas forum but that Pinnacle forum is someplace I'd rather avoid. Plus, although most of the effects are el-chessy, some will be a nice addition to my Vegas effects (when used in moderation).

Thanks!

Are you sure you have the version of HFX Pro that plugs into Studio? Once its installed, it should show up as additional transitions in Studio and an Edit button should appear so you can edit them. You also have to register your copy after installation. You’ll get back a key code that locks it to your PC. E-mail me if you need more help johnnyroy at rcn dot com.

Yep, did the whole register and lock to pc thing (not fun). I have an email in to Pinnacle support (not holding my breath).

I'll give is another try tonight. Would just use this for a couple transistions so it may not be worth my time (anything Pinnacle is like a virus on my computer :).

Thanks for the offer JR, I'll see how far I can get. I may look at the Canopus effects for some useful things.
