Importing tracking data from Mocha Pro into Vegas Effects.

Johannes-S schrieb am 30.04.2021 um 09:05 Uhr

Hello everybody,

Im into Vegas Effects, after purchasing the Vegas Post Suite. Im fine with it. It seems to be very similar to HitFilm Pro. I purchased the Mocha Pro Plugin and its working well. But Im not able to export any tracking data into Vegas Effects. Its possible with HitFilm Pro, After Effect, Fusion, Nuke ecc, but Vegas Effects is lacking this possibility. Exspecially working with planar tracking to import 3D Models or Objects, tracking camera movement ecc its necessary to be able to import the tracking Data into Vegas effects. As a compositing programm it should be able to. But it isnt.

Is there anyone who knows a work around? Or maybe Im missing something?

Greetings

Johannes

Update from Mocha Pro Support:

While HitFilm and Vegas Effects are very similar we currently only export data to the HitFilm variant.

We've not had much to do with the development of Vegas Effects, but I would imagine the formats of the Vegas Effects comp file and the HitFilm comp file are very similar, so you may want to try importing the HitFilm exports we do supply.

We also export ABC files as part of our mesh tracking, which Vegas Effects should import.

For everything else, you can still render via Mocha Pro to the timeline.

I will try it, and keep you updated.

Greetings

Johannes

This is over a year old. Curious has there been anything done on this front, or if anything is being planned.

The support team told me, that they are not directly involved in the development of Vegas Effects.

Vegas Effects is similar to Hitfilm, it lacks a few really important features for me. 3D camera tracking for example. Or importing tracking data or shape data from Mocha Pro.

I switched to Fusion in Davinci Resolve Studio. And Fusion Studio Standalone.

There i have all the features I needed. Importing Mocha Shape Data, tracking Data, 3D camera tracking, painting, clone painting....

(I was a proud Vegas User btw).

You can import Mocha Data in Vegas Pro itself. But it was not what I wanted, i needed it in Vegas Effects where i did compositing.

It could be that things changed now (or will change) with Vegas Post Suite 20.

Greetings, Johannes

Thanks for your reply.

I was curious as to whether there have been any changes in Effects. The need for tracking data and 3D camera tracking is important.

Hoping they implement them in the future. And with what is happening (or really not happening) over at FXHome, who knows what the future brings.

Happy editing, and greetings from Poland!
