When attempting to use a MPEG-2 TS video file it crashes the program. I have tried to re install it but that didn't work, maybe i did it wrong. I have tried to use MP.4 but it only shows the top left corner of the screen and when I use AVCHD it has a 2 second lag. I am recording the video with a HD PVP, Haugpauge. Any one have any idead how to fix this?

First of all, are you using the latest version of Vegas, and is it the Platinum version? Secondly, do a search for the word "Haugpauge" on this forum and you will find many others with similar problems. Vegas, at least older versions, don't seem to work well with that format. So might be an idea to re-encode to an intermediate format and then import to vegas for editing.

Almost all PVR footage (not just Hauppauge) needs to be re-indexed before importing into a Windows NLE (not just Vegas).

Download the trial version of VideoRedo and run your files through the "Quickstream Fix" utility, and see if the saved files open in Vegas. Takes just a few minutes to remux.

If what you want to do is cut commercials and save the trimmed programs, VideoRedo does this more easily and quickly than an editor like Vegas.

Sorry I should have been a bit more specific when i put the post in, but I was in a rush.
Anyway I am using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11.0
I don't think that I have upgraded it at all, all I did was download it from the site (never used more than windows live movie maker so I'm not to sure what I would have to download.)
Ans when you say "So might be an idea to re-encode to an intermediate format and then import to vegas for editing." What exactly do you mean by that?
Thanks for you input.
