Print to Tape Problems

jronin schrieb am 13.02.2004 um 02:52 Uhr
When I try to print to tape, Movie Studio does't engage my Sony GVD-1000. I also tried to prview to device and it did't work. I am able to capture video. Just not print a rendered video to tapre. When I try to print to tape, it plays full screen on the computer and nothing happens to the GVD-1000. The full screen playback doesn't happen on one of my other editors running Video Factory. I tried Reconnecting to Device. It did't help. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jay

Jay I am having the same problems. I cannot capture or output to tape in MF3. I am able to do both in ScenalyzerLive. I purchased MF3 to capture, edit videos and burn DVD, VCD, and/or output to VHS tape. Some of my relatives are in the stone age with no DVD players.

I have been exchanging emails with Sony Tech support for about two weeks and they cannot tell me what is wrong. The last communication I had was this morning when he told me that everything checks out and that he was going to send my problem to Engineering. Now that's scary!!

I am using a Sony DCR-TRV18 DV camcorder. If I could ask you to submit a problem to Sony support, www.custcenter.com. You might have to register first. The tech who is working my problem is Ted H. The more people who submit this issue I think the more attention we will get. Feel free to mention that (kgresko@adelphia.net), that's me, has the same problem and that Ted H. has been working it.

I hope that btwn the two of us we can get this working.

I know this may sound simple but you did not mention this. Do you have "Enable DV device control" selected in the preferences?

I'm pretty sure I do ,but I'll have to check when I get to school. When I installed it, I had a student help me compare the setting with one of my editors running Video Factory 2.0. I'll reply again once I've looked.

Interesting, cause one of the suggestions that tech support gave me was to disable "enable DV device control".

"enable DV device detection" is on. Any other ideas?

This could be a dumb question, but I'm good at those. Is it possible that you are running the demo version of Movie Studio? I recall reading somewhere that the demo version won't write to tape. Check the help menu to see if the "Enter Serial Number" choice is enabled or greyed out. Also, what revision of the capture software do you have? Mine shows 3.00 Build 90 and I was not able to reproduce what you're seeing.

The serial number is there. The Screenblast Movie Studio is Version 3.0 (Build 78). The Screenblast Video Capture is Version3.0 (Build 68). I looked for an update after I recieved this message. I'm downloading it now. I didn't see it the other day. I let you know what happens.

My latest versions are V3.0a BLD 100 for the main program and BLD 90 for the capture portion. Also when you check the preferences in the capture mode, which tab are you seeing the
"enable dv device control"? If you will notice, it occurs in two places. Once under the "general" tab and again under the "capture" tab. All of the annotations under the "capture" tab are incorrect. You need to consult the help files to find the correct annotations for the "capture" tab.
I use a Panasonic AG-DV2000 deck and it responds the same as you describe when I forget to change the box for "Enable DV device control" under the "general" tab. Is the Sony unit you describe, a firewire controlled DV device?

I found the problem.
In the "Preferences" there are two places to check "Enable DV device control". Under the "General" tab and the " Capture" tab. The second one was unchecked. Checking it didn't help though. What did help was going to the "Preview" tab and unchecking "Allow full screen file playback..." and "Warn about disabled mouse...". Once I did this it recorded to my sony deck. I hope this helps others.

Thanks for all of the advice,
Jay

I found the second enable device earlier along with something else. Thanks for all of the help.

Glad you got it going. The second button under the capture tab is really the button that turns on the "Stop capture on dropped frames" button which may or may not be of interest to you.
