"Trial Expired" But I Already PAID, It Won't

For some reason, I keep getting the message "Your DVD Architect Studio Trial Has Expired- if you would like to continue using DVD Architect studio software, click BUY NOW below-- the only problem is that I already PAID for both Movie Studio and DVD Architect just a few weeks ago, and received the CDs for them, and installed them!

Now, my Movie Studio editing works, but the DVD Architect software won't open, it keeps giving me the message that my trial expired. It's as if the computer doesn't know that I already downloaded the real thing from the actual CD that I purchased, this CD includes both Movie Studio editing and the DVD Architect, etc.

I have no idea what to do, and it's Saturday, the only day I get to do any of my work on this project. I have paid for support as well, but of course they're not open on weekends.

I tried already removing the DVD Architect software and reinstalling it from the CD, but still I get the same "expired" message, asking me to order it again. I feel really frustrated by this situation, as I'm trying to do everything properly and the weekend is the only time I get to work on my video projects.

Anyone have any idea what the solution to this might be?

First, take a deep breath.

DVDA comes with a separate serial number. Since said you have a CD, you will find that number on the jacket or folder.

If the online registration doesn't work for you, then choose the Register by Phone or Register from Another Computer option.

If all else fails, contact Customer Service. They will be very happy to take care of you.

But, in every instance, you need the Serial Number that came with DVDA in order to register. It is a different number than you used to register Vegas.

Thank you for trying to help me, I appreciate it, but I'm still in the same situation.

It all comes on one CD, both Movie Studio and DVD Architect, you can install them both from the same CD that I got in the mail.

Do you know where I would find the serial number for each, or is it the same one for both, the letters that show up on the sticker that is on the plastic wrap that covered the CD?

Sorry, I didn't know Vegas Studio and DVDA shipped on the same CD. I own the pro versions of both.

I'll defer to anyone who has recent experience installing your version of the software. A call to customer service wouldn't hurt.

Thanks again, for trying. I'll definitely call them as soon as they open up, too bad of course they are CLOSED all weekend.

Good people really get treated like crap, they pay good money (and I also paid for two months of SUPPORT by phone as well, but that's closed too of course all weekend, the only time I have to actually work on my video projects.)

Now the problem is even worse, I tried uninstalling both my Movie Studio and DVD Architect, and then reinstalling them both, and now I'm getting the message that BOTH of them are "expired" and that I need to buy them, even though I already PAID for them both and have the CD with them both that I ordered about 3 weeks ago!!!

Can anybody with the help of GOD please help me??????????????????

Does the Studio versions of DVDA have an authorization step? You enter the serial number when you install it, but then you must go through the one-time authorizing step to continue to use it. Is this something that Studio users need to do and, if so, did you do it?

The serial numbers for any software you have registered with Sony are available
(once you are logged in) by clicking "My Account / My Software" at the top of this page.

If the serial numbers are not there, then you have not registered the software with Sony. If you no longer have the serial numbers, then you may need to wait until customer service opens on Monday so they can trace your customer information.

That's all anyone here in the peer forums can do to help. If I were in your situation, I would be upset too, but it would be wise to be cautious before blaming Sony if your software expired because they were never registered.

Not sure if there was an authorization step initially or not, since I originally had the trial version, and it was a while ago, but then I purchased the full version, and I have it on the same CD that was sent to me that includes Movie Studio.

So I'm not sure if I originally had to enter a serial number.

Thanks, I found the serial numbers there, so I guess this means I registered it already. This allowed me to finally open Movie Studio, because when I clicked the Movie Studio icon on my screen, it asked to purchase OR to give a serial number, but for the DVD Architect icon, when I click it, it ONLY says to order, it doesn't give an option for listing a serial number.

So I'm back to square one- DVD Architect won't open, even though I paid for it already.

I now know the serial number for it, because I checked the "my software" page, but the problem is that when I click to open DVD Architect, it doesn't even ask for a serial number, it just says "Trial expired, click below to order" etc etc.

All this, even though I already paid for Sony Movie Studio 9, which came on one disc and included DVD Architect 4.5 as well.

Somehow the computer still thinks I only have a trial version.

Uninstall DVDA, back up your registry, and remove references to DVDA from the registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software
and reinstall DVDA

if that fails, you have to uninstall it again, and search the registry for any reference to the application

Hey Michael I have the very same problem as you i downloaded the trial and then purchased it online and when i click on DVD Architect it says your trial version has expired.

Have you figured this out yet. My problem is that I live in South Africa and all support is in the States so not easy for me to get a quick reply from sony my last resort will have to be to call but that will be very expensive for me.

Hi Michael I have figured it out, i have it now working on my computer, so here is what i did.

I did not double click on thw programme i downloaded from the net i went to
My Computer
C:
Programme Files
Sony Setup
DVD Architect Studio 4.5
this open the file and insid ethis file you will see the file you downloaded called "dvdastudio45_enu" DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK THIS ONE INSTEAD
You should see an application called "Setup" and this starts the wizard and instalation process and at the end gives you the window where you put in your Serial number which should i believe start with "1D2

Hi Michael,

If you have your answer already, ignore this post.

Choose the Register by phone. You don't need to call them, you will get an option to enter the serial number in. Trust me. I had this happen and went through 2 weeks of hell.
