VP18 Huge playback improvement over VP17

VP18 made a huge playback improvement over VP17. VP18 able to sail smoothly at full frame rate with out any struggle on Panasonic S1H 6K native file. Love the Video FX layout and the favorite FX folder but it is known not working correctly right now.

I tried one of those files. I have no GPU decode, even though 4.2.0, and for some reason it's using my intel GPU (compute) and not my Nvidia GPU. There's absolutely nothing set to intel within vegas. Very odd. It plays back very slowly but i'd expect as much without gpu decode, and using my Igpu on a 4core cpu

Is that file 4.2.0 and using your gpu decode or is it 4.2.2 and your cpu is doing all that work?

Try both in 32 bit mode now, so you can take advantage of the extra 2 bits of color depth S1H is capable of, see which version performs better then.

Lennard P. Of course with GPU decode. Without GPU supports, 6K file will caused Vegas to cry all day long.

frosty.

With 32 bit project setting, VP18 still sailing full frame rate, just like what you have seen in the video demo. VP17 playback worsen with 32 bit setting. Frame rate dropped further.

CPU/GPU usage in VP17 are much higher 43% CPU 46% GPU and only getting 20-21 frames in 32 bit project setting and struggle sometime.

CPU/GPU usage in VP18 27% CPU and 44% GPU hitting best full frame rate in 32 bit project setting without struggle.

The playback test with color corrected and FX applied.

And you're recording in 10 bit mode in the camera? This is where I wanted to stress test it, as GPU's cannot decode the 4:2:2 10 bit video the S1 and S1H cameras produce (I run a fleet of S1's myself), so it is a good measurement of improvement, as the GPU isn't factored in at all. My systems cannot smoothly play back 10 bit VLOG footage from my S1's when in 32 bit mode, not any more than one angle at a time, at least.

I don't own the S1h, I got the sample footage from the internet last year. It is 8 bit 6K recording.

VP18 32 bit project setting sailing smooth full frame at best preview from my GH5 10 bit 400mbp and or 10 bit 150mbp long GOP.
