@Gid I think we can rule out HW, we both have a rtx 3090, but different processor (intel vs AMD). I disabled GPU processing, but the issue remained. I suspect Vegas. I will try next with Davinci resolve.

I thought the OP was using capitals to be able to read his transparent text 😆

Vegas hangs if you apply - VST3 spectral denoise (Izotope)
@Touchette @Peterson I cannot comment on your issues as you describe as above, which could be very real, and indeed an issue; but for now I want to point the focus on one VST3 plugin in particular as the post title suggest: VST3 spectral denoise (Izotope). For me, it is the only one which does not work. It is the only one which lets my system hang from the very moment I add this plugin. No other Izotope RX10 plugins exhibit this behavior. All other plugins do not lead to a hang of Vegas when applied. I even updated the RX10 to v10.4.0) , but the issue still remains. I tried running Vegas 20 in administrator mode; I tried to change the audio device to all possible types in Vegas preference. Note that the spectral denoise works in sound forge pro...

I would love to see Vegas implement sky replacement (possibly AI supported) like some of the photo editors like luminar... Belgium and the Netherlands do not often have blue skies with nice fluffy clouds. More than I would like we have grey uniform drab!

1) Remember the parent timeline cursor position and return to the position where your cursor was on the parent timeline when you go back from the nested timeline to the parent timeline. 2) When going into the nested timeline, automatically put the cursor on the beginning of the nested timeline or somewhere in the middle of the nested timeline. This would help a lot with editing efficiency and is pretty easy to implement without to many risks I would imagine. Why: Usually the parent timeline is long and the nested timeline is short. When going into the nested timeline my cursor position is way off horizontal scrolls away to the right. And when I return, the cursor is usually somewhere at the beginning of the parent track - way off to the left from the original parent time line cursor location.

@ALO @VEGASDerek @walter-i. I can finally reproduce the issue! Walter nailed it, but it takes more than just clicking on the frame to reproduce: the file name of the video is also important; more specific, the length of the file name must be rather short in order to reproduce. Longer names (which have a larger " name box" on the GUI work OK). Short names have a smaller hit box and if clicked outside the name field hitbox (e.g. on the bottom right of the frame) do not register a highlight.

@vegas-user1 It could be a temporary server issue on microsoft azure side. Do you still have the issue? I see that you restarted your computer - when some people mean restart they actually just powering (shut down) and up again. I hope you selected specifically "restart" from the power down menu.

CPU-only AI-FX performance
I have added my test results (brand new i9-13900K, upgraded my i9-12900K on the same MB). My QSV render (i9-13900K and rtx3090, memory DDR5 64GB 5600) is currently the fasted overall render on Howard's list. The test result is en par with Lolasassy's result, the only other 13900K (albeit Lolasassy has a newer gen rtx4080). To my surprise, I would have expected my own NVIDEA render to be faster than my own QSV rendering, but that does not seem to be the case, and it is not due to a lack of GPU memory (an rtx3090 has 24GB). I have also added mainconcept rendering, which is surprisingly fast.

@bitman would you know if whisper can separate people, even if currently not implemented but the data is there? @Todd-A0 Not that I recall, I do know that you can separate voice with different people in izotope RX10 advanced. Maybe run it by RX10 first, separate out the person you need, and use whisper next... section at 8:23 (text navigation and multi speaker detection):

Same here from Belgium. Nice to have 1 Gbps internet and waiting or not even getting in. I whish they also change the CAPTCHA test to something else than Selecting traffic lights... I am getting pretty good at selecting traffic lights! Anyway, thanks anyway for the post, good to know it is not a client side issue!

@Dave-Wallin-Eddy Maybe a silly question on my part, but did you install all the rest that is needed for whisper to work? The Vegas whisper script is only the "hook" in Vegas to provide input for whisper (and if needed insert subtitles in Vegas). You need to install a lot of extra stuff such as FFmpeg, Python, Git and whisper (via Git) itself. All is explained in the document (ref. link at the beginning of this post). Even if you have installed all the executables, make sure you do not forget to adapt the environment variables path for them - so the system can find the installed executables so they can be called from the folder you have your audio).

@Dave-Wallin-Eddy The srt file is located in the same directory location as the audio source; however, I was able to reproduce the same issue you have when placing source audio on another drive than the C-drive (and consequently the srt file fails to save). I see you have your video (or audio) source on the root of "I" - drive which is different than a folder on C: drive. I tested the script with audio sources on folders on the C-drive. Possibly the script or its installed stuff to make whisper work, has issues when the source is not on the C-drive... Try to put your source audio on a folder in the C-drive. Also, make sure you repeat if it does not work from the first time; it may need time to download the models in memory first.

How Did Vegas Pro Get So Good?
Same here, very stable at the moment once it is up and running successfully. I do have a "kill vegas process" .vbs handy at he desktop for when it will not start (race condition bug the Vegas team found recently). @iEmby sorry to hear that, try to eliminate step by step any hardware issues. I see that you have a micro ATX motherboard, so I presume the PC enclosure is not spacious, this may be not optimal cooling wise; so how is your cooling? You are in India, heat may be an issue for stability? 12the gen Intel is producing a lot of heat. If heat is an issue, try to underclock your CPU. Another avenue of thought, disable your external GPU completely in Windows devices or BIOS (and restart). Maybe update BIOS version to a newer one if available. A final idea, if it crashes regularly like clockwork, maybe there is an issue in automatic saving; disable saving.

Vegas Startup Probems
@VEGASDerek Thanks for the update, it is good news you found the cause, it has been plaguing me a lot. I did not reported it, as it s a minor inconvenience that I had to kill the Vegas process almost every time after a start attempt. After a kill, Vegas pro usually starts up correctly. At least Vegas 20 is rock solid once it is running!
