Vegas 10e Reinstall on New System - Save/Export Options/Preferences?

Vegas won't even fire up on it.No error message, just nuttin' happens.Hence, I need to totally uninstall and re-install.Hopefully it will play nice with new hardware...long, long time since i had any experience with vegas, but, check in task manager that vegas isn't already running in the background - it's a long shot... i've got my old 12 reg somewhere if it'll help out... pm me as i don't check in here anymore.

well at 71 i'm still shooting and editing - though i theoretically retired quite a few years ago. seems there're certain things i, and some of my clients, just can't let go ;-) not around here simply because i moved to resolve. i still have vegas on my edit rig but haven't used it for... well a very long time now. i still think it's the fastest nle i've ever worked with but, when i started slowing down and picking and choosing my projects, i found i was doing more cc'ing and grading and found resolve more to my liking in that regard. it's also evolved into quite a pleasant editor too. nice to see the old folks come out into the sunshine once again ;-) btw. still with my ex1 as well bob. played with a few later models but really, for hd, couldn't see the need to change, i think i'm past the toy phase and into the medical bills ;-(

well, as you suggested john, i've popped out of hiding (behind resolve screens), only to become overwhelmed by what's going on in general. i'm still taken by this video: fortunately for my work (most of which ends up on one form or another of the net), hd is still overkill:-) i am so bored with drone shots, overt grading, frenetic cutting, vector graphcs, and crass colour correction that no amount of it will make up for the pathetic excuse that passes for scripting nowadays. i was brought up on the mantra that it was all about the 'story', whether selling, explaining, entertaining, or simply getting a message across, what was important was the content, not the packaging. unfortunately youtube now reflects society by the popularity of the unpacking videos - enough said ;-) ah for the bad old days of a couple of low-band vtrs clunking away under the control of a rm450 ducking back behind monitors.

i don't visit here much anymore, but saw your unanswered post.... from my professional experience, vegas is used by a lot of indie producers of all types of productions, from event through to feature, BUT is not a recognized 'professional' nle, unlike avid, resolve, fcp, etc., i don't think i've ever seen, or heard of anyone looking for a vegas editor (other than as a recourse when overextended - as i once saw on the old sony board. unfortunately, if you want a job in this industry you have to learn the tools of the trade, rather than be able to do things much quicker and simpler in vegas ;-)  

Can Vegas Pro 14 or 15 use AdobeRGB color space yet?

i find both 4k and hdr when viewed on 4k screens quite unrealistic. sure, they're both are eye-catching, but so far removed from reality as to look totally artificial. however, since we live in a plastic, fantastic* world i'm sure they'll be well appreciated by the majority for whom the more garish things are, the more desirable they become. *thanks grace ;-)

3D slithers back, Smaug-like, into a deep cavern, to be awakened at some time in the future when finance directors of graphene-silico enabled widgets will form the next snake-oil best-thing solution to their faltering/failing revenue streams. well put there old chap... i'm bored by the fact that there's so much 'crap' still being churned out by supposed professionals. motion graphics, drone shots, shallow dof are not in themselves a reason to make a program around them. and yes, the beeb continues to produce some of the best tv around.

well written old smoke.... it's always a matter of WHAT you need the camera for. i couldn't see myself ever shooting events (if i did them) on anything but a dedicated camcorder (in my case ex1r), on the other hand, i have used my nex7 with nikon glass on my jib and also as a b rollwith excellent results in both cases.

i started making money with 4, and though worked with other nle's on and off for many years, always came back to vegas, until its future looked uncertain and rumours were rife. looking for an alternative i ended up with resolve - though nowhere as intuitive and as fast as working in vegas, it offered excellent support and development. i still use vegas 13 for basic rough cutting of long form interviews and such like, i would happily say that vegas contributed a great deal to my comfortable retirement (well, not quite fully retired as yet ;-)

well they STILL haven't incorporated voice command!!! i want to be able to sit back and simply command vegas to do everything, eg, play, cut, trim 3 frames dissolve to track 4, bring up audio on track 7, etc., etc., meanwhile am about to have a bit more of a play with 15...

i'm a really old fart cum curmudgeon who's been around this forum for a very long time, during which time i've tried to help people, complain about vegas both as an nle, and it's marketing, but i have generally benefited from my time spent hereabouts. the first thing one should learn is garbage in - garbage out. this applies both to video quality and posting in open forums. you generally get treated with the respect or disdain you bring upon yourself. the second thing one should learn is that being the first kid on the block might give you bragging rights, but can also bring headaches. it's very easy to bleed to death on the cutting edge, both technically and financially. third thing is research. if a products been out for more than 9 months you can bet your bottom dollar they'll be a new release within 6 months. generally, you get what you pay for - if you buy 14, you get 14 with no promise that you'll be upgraded to 15. The thing is all these parochial old fogeys will eventually all die out, literally in some cases. not quite literally in my case (well not just yet), but dealing with a generation who apparently don't rtfm, don't understand how to ask a question, can't be bothered researching a product before buying it simply leaves me dumbfounded. then again, much of what's going on leaves me dumbfounded anyway. probably age related...
