hello, I just recently got Vegas, and I am having trouble with it...when I overdub a second track, and sometimes on the first track, it usually screws up while recording. It seems that you lose a half second or so somewhere, which throws the whole thing out of sync. its very frustrating, and I cant figure out whats wrong. can anybody help?

btw my computer is a Compaq Presario 7940. it ought to have enough power to handle the program, and I closed out everything, as well...

I work for Compaq so I might be able to help. I'm assuming you have at least 128MB RAM and a 400MHz Processor or better and you are operating under the software's default settings for recording. If not one of these is your problem.
Otherwise you could be experiancing an issue with the driver supporting your Creative 1373 sound card which I'm assuming you are using. Copy and past the link below to update your audio driver based on your Operating System. Be sure to do it via the web address below, you will not be able to find this update from Creative as it is a Compaq only related issue. After you have installed the update restart your computer and re-install Vegas. Hope this helps.
By the way not to discourage you but I've worked for Compaq for 4 years and ever since I can remember they have always had Audio issues. I use a Compaq but I installed another Audio Card other than the one given to me, and it works great. That may be your other option if everything else doesn't work.
Good Luck!

I've also had audio problems with Compaq in the past. Makes a nice office PC, but never again for a DAW!!!
