Does Vegas support batch processing like Sound forge for
batch processing Real Media and Windows Media and Quicktime
(streaming formats)?
Does it suport the new Real Media 8.0 Codecs?
Discusion:
Just that it seems that I use Premire for my work and then
Soundforge as well, on the Digital Video (DV) side I use the
new Mac and Final Cut Pro. All do batch. It is important to
have the ability to edit and save multiple then batch
render/encode. You all will need to do this to compete and
meet the needs of customers.
We also sometimes have to write our own software too cause
folks just don't seem to get to it.
The RealVideo 8 has an Active X OCX for hooking into custom
interfaces that Real Aparently has abandoned. Their Producer
Pro had batch processing they took from the vivo producer,
the producer plus has the ability to manually write batch
scripts but no interface, they also don't have an interface
for editing but finally have rmeditor dos program for G2, 7
and 8.
Stream Anywhere conceptually was a nice idea but misses
without the batch processing. For someone that has the task
on encoding zillions of files weekly in like six formats the
tool that is needed is one that automates the process as
much as possible. SoundForge and Premire batch processes
saved so much time. Shaved like 80% of the time out of it
all. I may write code to do what I need it to do. It seems
that with you all aquiring STV in LA that you would have
tools to make this all easier in a mass production
environment.
Do you all have an SDK? A way to even manually write batch
scripts? (Real Plus 8 has this) A way to upgrade the
Soundforge templates? or a way to write your own like the
ones in options, batch, configuration settings, realaudio
and realmedia and Netshow Setings under more under
configuration settings in Sound Forge?
Ability to do quicktime streaming formats?
Vivo http (non asf) streaming?
These are the things I need and the new RM 8 codecs.
Quicktime support with streaming codecs. MPEG2.
The RealProducer 8 stuff denies control of many variables
as compared to earier versions or even their old dos encode
programs that you could tell whatever you wanted.
The Active X control docs under the Docs subfolder of the
RealProducer 8 software says (proprietary:)
An easy way to use the ActiveX Control is to insert the
control, named RealProducer G2 Control, into your Automation
Controller and then drag the control onto your form or
dialog. Then, use the property browser and the custom
property pages to control the settings for your RealProducer
control.
To dynamically create the RealProducer ActiveX Control, you
can use the ProgID with the CreateObject function (in Visual
Basic) or the GUID with the CoCreateInstance function
(Visual C++).
---
Seems kinda simple to do these things. The problem is that
with programs like Stream Anywhere and Everywhere that Real
has gone with the producer stuff is an all in one tool.
But the batch and futher dev was left out and SoundForge
and just left behind for Vegas and never near in Stream
Anywhere.
I bet if you talked to the folks that do this every day at
STV in LA in a production environment you would see the
rewards just for yourselves bottom line to do these simple
enhancements. This doesn't even consider the needs of folks
like me.
Thanks,
