Benny Hill

I want to shoot some people working outside and speed them up like they did for some "Benny Hill" shows. I have a camera that will allow variable frame rates (10,12,15,24) or I could shoot at 30 and speed things up in Vegas. I don't have a very good feeling for what rate would look good. I would prefer to do the speed up in the camera since there will be about 2 hours of real time shooting.

Any suggestions as to a rate that would give the result that they got in the "Benny Hill" show?

Regards,
Jerry

I've done it both ways (time lapse and sped up footage). To get a real "benny hill" look you'll want to speed up your footage.

This is one where I taped at normal speed and sped up the footage in Vegas:

The reason I'd say tape at normal speed is so that you have more control over the final output. While mine might be sped up to look like 10fps playing at 30, I could also do 12, 15, 24, etc. When you record a faster speed you can't go slower as easy as you can go faster.
