Best BD player+DVD/CD burner ?

Feeling lazy: my DVD unit crashed after years of service and I don't want to go through 1000 review sites so I'm simply asking here: according to what you've read or heard or already have, what would be the best internal device for such task? I don't plan burning Blue Ray disks until a while so if it could just read'em but burn DVDs and CDs that would be great...

I've been using LG drives in both my systems, with no problems ever, even burning BD-RE, Sony, Ridata and Verbatim disks.

I have an LG old enough to write Blu-ray and HD-DVD and it works fine. I have a Plextor brand preference but it's not based on any recent comparisons of hardware.

I have the same one (now discontinued) as John Dennis and I like it very much, but as with any electronics you need to read the User Reviews of the current models.

Start by looking up the User Reviews on Amazon and Newegg for whatever the current LG model is, but don't have discussions regarding "brands". It will get you into trouble. Specific models within brands will always get you a more reliable product.

Because you also said Best BD player:
In terms of Blu-ray playback, that will depend upon the software (for example - Power DVD) it comes with (if at all) and more specifically the version of the software, and whether that version works well or not. The User Reviews for the burner should indicate that (if it comes with playback software). Of course you can always use the BR burner to burn the discs and watch them on a console BR player.

I have a Pioneer BDR 205 and recently also added a Pioneer BDR 206. Both are amazing. They can both burn and play Blu-ray, DVD, and CD. They are extremely reliable.

I actually got the 205 a while ago in a bundle with Vegas 9 (which I have since upgraded to 10) which cost me as much as Vegas alone, so I am a very happy camper. I placed the 205 inside an external enclosure and used it over USB for quite a while with both my desktop and my laptop.

When I built my new desktop, I connected the 205 to it via eSata, but soon after I decided to get another one, so I got the 206 and placed it inside the desktop, so it is now my main player and burner. I highly recommend the 206.
