Ken,
I still have DVDA Pro 5.2 build 124 installed and Vegas Pro 10 does not ask me to insert a BD, if I burn bluray to dvd directly from the timeline. Did you update your DVDA recently to a later build?
Maybe this thread would help

The latest version(s) of DVDA Pro will not burn HD content to "red-ray" DVD. SCS's explanation: "it was not standard". Presumably this is code for "it did not work properly in all cases, and rather than fix it, we withdrew it".

When you create a disc from Vegas, you actually use the DVDA engine.

Good Morning, thanks for the response. I have been using DVDA Version 5.2 (Build 133) since it was released and it has worked with no problems until now. Which version and build are you using? If SCS are not going to fix it, then what is the solution if you want to burn a Bluray?

Hi, thanks for responding. I upgraded and have been using DVDA Version 5.2 (Build 133) since it was released (I don't remember when that was though) and it has worked with no problems until now. I will read the thread. Thanks again.

Hi. I read the thread, and in the very last comment the user says that it was removed due to legal issues regarding the Bluray standard. That is strange, because it is inside Version 5.2 (Build 133). I am going to try a system restore and if that does not work, I will try to uninstal / re install the software. Thanks again

If you just want to revert to an earier version, it may be safer to just uninstall the current version and then install the wanted version. You won't risk breaking something else that you might have forgotten you had done.

If you want to put HD onto a DVD, then you could try the free MultiAVCHD

http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/

There are several medium cost alternatives too, such as Cyberlink PowerDirector, Corel DVD MovieFactory, Nero Vision, etc.

I did un install and re install Version 5.2 (Build 133) and everythings is working again.............strange. Thanks

Ken,
just to be clear on this. Are you saying that you are able to burn bluray content to dvd disc with DVDA Pro 5.2 build 133 installed? There are several reports to the contrary on the forums including the one in the thread linked in my previous post.
PeterDuke wrote on 8/8/2012, 9:05 AM
I just went through installing DVDA Pro 5.2 builds 124, 132, 133 and 135.

I created a new Blu-ray project with AVC 1920x1080-50i,19:9.
I opened the Project Properties, Properties tab, Disc Properties, and selected the second line: Target Media.

With build 124, the following options are available: 4.7, 8.5, 25 and 50 GB.

With the later builds, only 25 and 50 GB are available.

Thanks Peter.
That was my understanding too.

Hi. Yes I am. I have been able to since I installed it a while ago.until my recent problem, which is sorted out with me uninstalling and reinstalling. I read a thread which says that it does not work in all cases. Apparently SCS decided that rather than fix it, they have removed the feature. I downloaded Vegas Pro 11 and tried to burn from the time line, but it also " asks me" to insert a writeable bluray disc. Perhaps the reason is inside Vegas Pro and not DVD Architect Pro 5.2 (build 133). I just did a test using Vegas movie Studio 10 and DVD Architect Pro 5.2 (build 133) which I have installed on my older machine and wrote a Bluray disc from the timeline with no problems. So perhaps the problem is not within DVD Architect

Ken,
A bluray disc (BD 25 or 50 GB) yes, but an AVCHD disc (with BD content) (DVD 4.7 or 8.5 GB) no?

Hi

I have a Blu-ray writer as well as a DVD writer on my editing machine.

When I have a short clip eg. 10 minutes, I write the AVCHD 1920 x 1080 file from the Vegas Pro 10 timeline as a Blu-ray Disc onto a DVD 4.7 disc using my DVD Writer, which I then play back on a stand alone Sony Bl-uray player and view on my Sony HD TV. If I take video of my grandchildren, I give my daughter a copy which she then plays back on her LG stand alone Blu-ray player and views on her LG HD TV.

When I video a concert which is longer, eg, 1 hour, I will then write the AVCHD 1920 x 1080 file from the Vegas Pro 10 timeline as a Blu-ray Disc onto a BD25 disc using my Blu-ray writer and view on my Sony Blu-ray player.

The only difference that I find is that if the when I write to DVD and play back on the Sony player, there is no counter, but when the same file is written to a Blu-ray disc, there is a counter.

The procedure I use is

Tools > Burn Disc > Blu-ray Disc

The settings which I use are the defaut settings which come up.

Video Format : Sony AVC/MVC (*.mp4 ; *.m2ts; *.AVC)
Video template : Blu-ray 1920 x 1080 50i 16 Mbps video stream
Audio format : Sony Wave 64 (*w.64)
Audio Template : 48 000 Hz, 24 bit Stereo PCM

Description : Audio: 48,000 Hz, 24 Bit, Stereo, PCM
Video: 25 fps, 1920x1080 Upper field first, YUV, 16 Mbps

I then select the DVD Writer which has a DVD 4.7 disc in it and write the disc. The only change I will make when writing to a BD 25GB disc is that I select the Blu-ray disc writer and obviously use a Blu-ray disc.

Hope this makes sense.

Regards

Ken

Ken,
it makes perfect sense. What does not make sense is that I can do the same with Vegas Pro 10 when DVD Architect Pro 5.2 build 124 is installed, but NOT when a later build (e.g. 133) is installed. I get exactly the same options as PeterD lists in his post above. Interesting.
Ken Brits wrote on 8/11/2012, 8:58 AM
As I mentioned, I downloaded a trial version of Vegas Pro 11. What I find is that when I try to burn from the time line, I only get the option to burn to a Blu-ray disc with DVD Architect Pro 5.2 (Build 133) installed. I have a feeling that it might be related to the version and build of Vegas Pro. I have Version 10.0e (Build 738) 64-bit.

Ken,
same version, same build.
Ken Brits wrote on 8/11/2012, 9:42 AM
OK, then I can't explain it, but I looked at your specs and you are using VPro 10e b398, which is different to my version, unless you have not updated the specs.

Just glad that mine is up and running. I do a lot of small videos which don't need menu's and it is just so convenient burning straight from the timeline.

Ken,
seems there was a typo in my specs and I corrected it to VP10 b738. Thanks for bringing that to my attention! Like I said earlier I still use DVDA Pro b124, so this is not a problem for me. Also with later builds one can use "render image only" in Vegas and burn with other software if an AVCHD disc is needed.
Ken Brits wrote on 8/14/2012, 12:04 PM
Hi vkmast.

Noticed something. When I try burn from the Vegas timeline......no problem, but, if I open DVD Architect and try to write Bluray to DVD, it won't and asks me to insert a writeable Blu-ray disc. This happens when I try File > new > Single movie and also when I create a menu and try. The clip I tried as a test is only 75 megs and less than two minutes long. Can't remember if I tried out of DVD Architect previously or not. When I got some spare time, I am going to install the previous version and try.

Regards

Ken
