It's been a while since I used text tracking in VP16, and using the text box is definitely not intuitive because it cannot be previewed in position. Once overcoming that limitation, it does work well though, really, it could be so much better.
I notice, Grazie, that the X and Y offsets in your first screen shot are both at zero. These do need to be adjusted to get the text into your desired position. Several times, I even needed to add spaces in front of the text in the text box to help get the text positioned to where I needed it. But there's no preview, so right now its very much trial and error.
. . . using the text box is definitely not intuitive because it cannot be previewed in position.
@Dexcon - This is insane. A control that I can't . .er . . Control?

@Dexcon - A limitation that is illogical. The Text Motion Track works very well. But this limitation is crucially counter to User Experience I Can't and don't wish to overcome it - I want it to work. Please

Trial and Error - really? I do hope this Function is going to be improved and not, IMHO, wither and die like PTT.
@Dexcon - Seriously, many thanks for taking the time in posting your confirmation of my own experience.
MAGIX? Please get this Control to actually allow the User to SEE what is happening. If I have missed something MAGIX please correct me.
.. I leave the controls alone and use pan crop to move the PLACEHOLDER.
@xberk - Yeah, I tried this, but truly, I/we should not have too. I’ll have another go because about 4 hours ago I was getting that Pan/Crop Frame cropping. Ugh... I don’t want that in my creative mix.
@xberk - Yeah, it’s almost there. Just a little more coding and they could have had it. As it is, it is like it’s dress up and nowhere to go. Like a Prom Queen, jilted and left with Mom and Pop... only to need therapy as she reaches her mid 20s.... 😞. A Control left in limbo and neglected.
>>I can't reposition this PLACEHOLDER and it to remain linked to the Motion Tracking
.. I leave the controls alone and use pan crop to move the PLACEHOLDER.
Hmmm I cannot seem to get this to work. Whenever I manually use pan crop to readjust the text position at the beginning of the event, the next keyframe from the tracking will pull it right back to the original position. Trying to have a text positioned above someone's head, and the only way to adjust it to where I want it is to again and again use the BLIND X and Y offset controls til it's right. You can't even readjust it afterwards as those controls only show up once. Seriously frustrating.
1) For the User wanting to add this fabulous option to their WorkFlow Set.
2) For Developers needing to edit/add Code that would make this Control.... er.... Control.

FWIW I haven’t yet even once looked at this control since it was introduced. After the initial and subsequent comments by users wrestling with it I can definitely say It’s one of my few really good decisions.
When, if, the dust ever settles on this I will gladly embrace it, properly working, in a user friendly and intuitive way which is key. One of the great strengths of VP is it’s ease of use, but not this widget from what I hear.
It's definitely a half baked feature release. i don't quite get why it was left in an obviously unfinished dtate. If it weren't for the scripts, one couldn't even motion track text or other events.
