Distribution is what I am looking for ...the screening at Mann's is where I am hoping to entice a lot of industry...

I was just thrilled that in our first two fests we garnered 17 noms...won 4 at the first...which is heartening because this was pretty much shot with just a camcorder (SONY Z1), a microphone and a ninja...heartening in the sense that people appreciated the film for the content and acting...not the production value...

HUGE thanke to Spot, Mannie and now Jeff too...their constant support
and belief in my work is more than words can say...

Best, Stan The Man

Stan,
Congrats! Great meeting you at NAB last April. Think I remember seeing part of that trailer (last scene) at the Vegas party. Awesome that your film is doing well. Would love to see the full feature. Let me know when it will be available. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Stewart...I'll post if it gets distributed...

Vic,..this is actually my new film. The feature I gave you to watch was the first movie, Bred In The Bone...you may have seen the trailer to this, though...can't wait to show you this one...

Stan,
looks great to me. Production values look fine. I'd rather watch something with only 10 coats of wax than 14 coats of grunge. I'd love to see how it holds up at 1080 on a big screen, I suspect as you've kept the image clean it'd do you proud.

BTW, how do you find acting and doing everything else as well?

Bob.
xristos wrote on 9/18/2006, 10:51 AM
Trying to act while you are doing everything else has definite consequences...the nod for Best actor is moost gratifying for just that reaso. I belive that having done Bred In The Bone first set me up to be more aware of the pitfalls but you cannot totally eliminate them...particularily on a guerrilla shoot when you are hiding or rushing to get a scene done in less than five minutes with coverage too...Emotional scenes are the greatest challenge in those circumstances...but despite all this, I'd be nowhere if I didn't do all this,,,I earned an average of $13,000 per year so I didn't have the money for a larger production and I wasn't going to wait for something to happen...Thank God I have 10 years of theater training behind me and a great script as a tool....People say not to do everything and believe me, if I had the money, I wouldn't be DP, editor, sound guy, clearner, grip...but I would never tell someone not to do it because, as in my case, it has been the only road avaiabke to me and has proven to be most satisfying...

best,
Stan...

Stan!,

Congrats on the 17 nominations! and the 4 wins so far.
It's hard enought to get the first one when you have a full crew to shot with, but when you are doing most of the work yourself, it must
be just that much sweeter. Nice job!

Again, congrats to you and your cast and crew.

Stan,

You help prove, focus+hard work+an ideal = winner

Focus and hard work is always a battle vs talking about doing it, especially when resources are tight.

Stan the man, well earned I think, but ..... how about "Hollywood Stan"!

Wow - a hardy congratulations - very encouraging and inspiring to me personally!!
xristos wrote on 9/18/2006, 1:38 PM
thanks APIT...they are both a little cheesy really LOL...That is just what everyone calls me but funny thing is, everyone I have ever known called Stan gets the nickname, stan the man...hardly original...

Lili, I pleased...I speak to a lot of people about the process in the hope of inspiring people, particularly newbies and filmmakers with few resources, that anything is possible if you want it badly enough...The most important thing is the content... the story. Movies are sotries told in pictures so if you can tell a great story, people will watch. At NAB I stated that the large majority of filmmakers there would, quite likely, make a better trailer than I could...probably even a better music video or teaser, but unless you can write a great story, your audience will not sit through 2 hours...I wrote a book on it that is due for release soon...keep your eye out...

Best,
Stan The Man

Nine well-deserved nominations for this amazing film. Thought I'd chime in my kudos, too. Shoestrings and duct tape are fine, but the story (and its presentation) make the real difference here. Stan, I can't wait to see what's next for you. And I sure hope a lot of people get to see this film -- it needs to be seen (and heard ;-) )

Congrats, Stan. Very inspiring. May we all have the vision, and the ability to pull it off.

Thanks to you too, fldave...I'm sorry if I don't get on much...feels like I get on far too late to thank everyone for their kind support before they log off....I don't want to unneccesarily push this thread up so I'll leave it here and thanks to anyone else in advance.

...unless there is any info that anyone wants to know in which case I am more than happy to correspond...

Cheers,
Stan The Man
