Custom font issue.

AgiLityGMD wrote on 6/19/2019, 7:37 AM

I use legacy text to subtitle my videos, and i use a custom font under the name "VCR OSD Mono" for the subtitles, but every time i go to write a new subtitle, the font automatically changes to arial. This is an issue for me, cause when im subtitling an entire video, constantly selecting all the text, scrolling trough 200 fonts to find my font, and apply it for every subtitle takes a very long time. Any workarounds this issue?

The default font was covered not all that long ago in:

In the folder

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 16.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins\TitlesAndText.ofx.bundle\Contents\Resources\

look for the appropriate XML file and replace

"OfxParamPropDefault>{\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Verdana;"

against

"OfxParamPropDefault>{\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Impact;"

Intead of arial, select you preferred font. I hope this works for you.

I did this, but still, every time i type a new letter, the font switches back to arial.

You can make a preset with your favorite font, size and placement for your subtitles and use that preset each time.

... are you selecting the right language to amend. The correct XML file to change is (from the linked post):

If your Vegas Pro is set to English, then the Titles AndText.xml file is the one to change

If you have changed the ES xml file, ES is I think the code for Espana (Spain).

As i told you, the default text is my custom font, but every time i type the font switches to arial, making a preset doesnt do anything, cause it still switches to arial every time i type any letter.

At NewBlue we have seen some font issues as well. If you right-click a font file an choose "Install as Administrator", it will typically work where just copying the font file over will not. This seems to have something to do with a recent Windows update.
