Device couldn't be opened.

Windows XP recognizes Sony Digital 8 camcorder connected to firewire/1394 cable to computer with Ahlon XP 1700 processor, 512 MB ram, 75 GB HD. VF2 says "The Device Microsoft DV Camera and VCR could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user."
I tried all ways as instructed by online help without luck. I had the same problem with Windows Movie Maker and Videowave 5. Is there something I miss?

I get that sometimes after printing to taape and I hit stop manually on the camera. I fix it by exiting the capture program, turn off the camera, then back on, then back into the capture program. Never been let down yet.
