Error when rendering project and general batch render question

Daniel027 wrote on 2/9/2018, 9:53 AM

Hello.

I got Vegas Pro 14 from a humble bundle and it worked fine until I attempted to render the video. When I go to 'File -> Render As' I get an error right away saying "An error occurred while creating the media file . Exception thrown by method called". I looked this up online and the only solution I found was to use a batch render script located at 'Tools -> Scripting -> Batch Render'.

However the available options don't fit what I want. I want my video to be 720p 60fps but the only option for that makes a 1 minute video 5GB. The other option I found was 720p 30fps with a much lower 40 MB filesize. I would like to create a custom one that's 720p 60fps with a small file size. However the only way I can apparently do this is to create a template which I can't do because clicking on Render As just brings up the error.

So I'm at a loss here. Are these default batch scripts located anywhere where I can edit them or can someone send me a custom one I can use as a base? Also if you know how to fix this error in general that would be amazing.

I'm on Windows 7 64 bit

Thanks!

I can't offer much help, but Batch Render will have nothing to do with this problem.

Read page 2 here to see if it helps.

I tried the solutions posted there but I still get the same error when I try to render. I accessed the hidden preferences menu and changed the rendor path to C:\VegasProRenders which is a folder I created. It was pointing to my documents folder by default.

I won't be able to fix the Render As Dialog Box failure, but I can help you get off the starting block by creating the templates that you described to populate your custom render templates folder so they will be available to the Batch Render script.

Three Sony AVC/MVC render templates with the following characteristics are here:

The location to place them on your machine is shown on the right of the screenshot above. Replace my user name with yours. You may have to show hidden and/or system files in the Control Panel.

They will show when you invoke the Batch Render script:

If you have an earlier version of Vegas Pro, you could build templates in that program for use in Vegas Pro 14.

It probably wouldn't hurt to go through this list after your first render completes.

For future reference, this is a good list to know about. Nick is a consummate list maker.

Those templates are exactly what I wanted! Thank you! I bookmarked the other 2 links to see if troubleshooting will fix the general issue down the road.

Cheers!
