I'm new a this, but I believe you should "uncheck" the stretch to video option. On other software that I have, it results in "fat people".

Hope this helps,

I unchecked the stretch to video box. Nothing happened. The video is being imported into the computer in this squished state. What am I doing wrong?

How did you capture the video? Is it analog and did you use 320x480 as your capture resolution? This would make it tall and squished.

Captured through analog VCR at every resolution possible and it all comes out the same way.

If you capture at 640x480 is should not be squished as that’s the correct 4:3 aspect ratio. I don’t know what hardware you’re using to connect your VCR to your computer, but see if it offers a capture resolution of 640x480 and use that.
