Image Sequence Utility

Hello,

Is there anyone who knows if there is an application to edit image sequences?
By editing, for example, I mean to delete every umpteenth photo in the image sequence to speed up the image sequence. And then possibly rename the entire sequence. I know it's also possible with Window 10 and "Advanced Renamer", but maybe it can be done more automatic and easier. And can do other things I don't know...

Vegas Pro 20 + Ignite Pro

HitFilm Pro 2023.1

Things similar like this can easily be done in Vegas Pro. For speeding up an image sequence Event you could either define a specific frame rate or use a time lapse tool (with resampling turned off it would drop frames).

At the moment I do it this way:
- Windows View > Tiles

- I enlarge or decrease depending on the number of rows I need to have (here I want 3 rows).

- I now select all photos on the third row and delete them.
- Now I use "Advanced Renamer" and rename the whole series of photos from 1 to ...

This way I keep the original photos.
In your way, I try it and I see that the length of the photos has become smaller. And I'm probably losing data!

I continue searching ...

A still image has no length. The Event in the Vegas Pro timeline will be shorter not the length of the photos and this is exactly same as if you delete single photos, assumed you have resampling disabled.

I mean the length in bytes, the file size!

That's the file size which won't be touched while you edit the media in Vegas Pro. Only export will touch the file size and here it's up to you which export type you select and if there will be a data loss or a quality loss or not.

You will benefit by learning the bulk rename/resize/processing features in Irfanview.
