Hello, I am having a big problem finishing my movie. The problem is with the credits. At the end of the film I have figured out how to get the credits scrolling (finally) but the text media box only holds so much text and then it cuts off....how do I get the one box to hold more text? THen I could put all the credits in that box and have it scroll. So far i have been trying to make multiple text boxes and make them all scroll which is a huge pain and they never match up right, there are always gaps and it looks bad..Please, there has to be a way to do that you would think I would appreciate any help thank you :)

if you want to email me instead its:

for long credits, the best way is to create a "long bitmap" (or png) file or whatever in Photoshop and then do a pan/scan on that. All credits on a single still image file, kerned and speced however you want. Make it 655 wide by however high and it will scale nicely to the DV pixel aspect (.9091).

Using an outside paint program to create credits is such a pain, and it can be difficult to make changes later without redoing the whole thing. I use a couple of really simple techniques to get the most out of Vegas' built-in stuff.

First, reduce your font size to the smallest size that is still legible. Keep in mind that some things which look too small to read on the preview window will look fine on a TV. It takes some experimentation with the font you are using (render some video, look at it on a TV, repeat, ugh) but you can get pretty small.

Second, increase the height of the generated media frame. Edit the generated media, leaving the frame width the same as your project's frame width, but increasing the frame height to its maximum of 2048 (this is done at the top of the media editing dialog, where it says "Frame size", the first value is width, the second is height). This gives you a frame that is tall and skinny and can contain lots of text, but is just the right width for your project.

Then on the Event Pan/Crop dialog, uncheck Lock Aspect Ratio, and enter your project's frame size as the frame size. You'll get a frame matching your project. Set the beginning frame just above the top text, and the ending frame just below the last text, and you can scroll a very long list.

Hope this helps!
