Name Tag Generation

Hello There,

I'm using VMS 11 and, so far, it has been enough.

But I'm a bit stumped on generation of name tags. Can these be made with VMS 11?

To clarify, I'd like to add in name tags with opaque backgrounds (and possibly logos) in one of the frame's corners that say something like:

Richard Smith
Board of Directors

I've tried using Media Generators/Solid Colors, but haven't figured out how to re-size the colors to name tag size. Changing the frame size doesn't help.

Any ideas? Has anyone seen any tutorials about this?

Thanks,

CS

I'm not sure what you are or aren't doing, CS, but the Media Generator is exactly how to do this. You can size the position and location of your text right in its workspace.

Can you tell us step by step what you're doing? There's no reason this should not work.

Use the text generator on its own track; resize and position using track motion, you can have any color or gradient you want, semi-transparent is nice.

There are so many ways to create 'lower thirds' (what I believe you mean by 'nametags' Crellin Sound), I would hate to specify one way. Although you have to pick and choose, there are enough tutorial videos on You Tube to give you a few good starting points.

Search 'lower thrids sony vegas'.

What I want to suggest, is once you have a lower third you like and may have to reuse multiple times in other projects, is to be sure to give it a name and save it in the dropdown list in the effect window. You should also save the 'track motion' setting as a name like 'My lower third' or such.

It will save you loads of time down the road.

Very good! Thanks to all of you.

I knew there was a way to do this, but I'm inexperienced with Sony Vegas and just didn't know where to poke around for the right stuff.

I also didn't know that "lower thirds" is what I should have been looking for.

Good idea about saving whatever I generate too.

Thanks again. I appreciate it.
