NewBlue Titler EX - OpenFX item (crashes Vegas Pro 14)

Former user wrote on 4/29/2017, 4:34 PM

Hi, I know this has been discussed elsewhere, so much so I'm not sure where to start.

The problem is if I just touch the NewBlue Titler EX - OpenFX item in the Media Generators tab, Vegas 14 Pro just bombs out.  It appears in 3 places within Media Generators ... under ALL .. under Third Party ... and also under NewBlue Titler EX for Sony Vegas MSPPS

I get a "Vegas has stopped working" message, then I entered details, and send.

I have also SV Pro 13 and Movie Studio Platinum installed, this item may have come with the previous to Magix programs? Probably the Studio.

I suspect it's an old item, maybe best to remove/uninstall it, how do I do that? or whats best to do?  I could just ignore it, I only selected it to see what it was about!

I'm using latest ver. of VP 14. Win. 10.

Thanks.

Fair enough, you've had similar problem Cornico, not sure where that leaves me with resolving/removing/uninstalling the item though.

I have NewBlue Title Pro 5 Ultimate and it works fine. I had carshes when I first purchased Titler Pro 5 and installed it. After digging through issues, I noticed Vegas 13 had Titler 2 in C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\NewBlueFX directory, which left Titler 2 folder and files even after uninstallation. I deleted them and clean the registry with CCcleaner. Check if it is the case for you!!! I have Vegas 13 & 14, both.

Thanks for that info. Suhaib, I believe this item came with my Sony Platinum Suite v13. It doesn't crash v13 platinum, works. It was bundled with it, a bit cut down. I tried running from v13 SVP and it said it was a trial and did I want to update? These plugins must carry over to the different products, but obviously? it's tied to the platinum suite only? It only crashes Magix 14.

I'll try it tomorrow on my desktop PC, this crash is on my laptop. I found a writeup on Dr. Zens while googling and apparently it requires a good graphics card, maybe thats the problem, still crashing out is not pleasant, only on ver. 14.

The bundled product was was Titler Pro 2 which was shipped with Vegas v13. I do not think, it will work with Vegas v14. I am speaking of Titler Pro 5 Ultimate only, which luckily I got from BlueFx for $149. I downloaded their trial version of Titler Pro 4 in October. When Titler Pro 5 was released they sent a special offer to license Titler Pro 5 Ultimate for $149.

Anyway, Titler Pro 4 (Trial version) was also working with Vegas v13 and 14.

I tested on Desktop PC same result as on laptop using the 3 different software packages I previously mentioned. Uninstalling it from the PC/Laptop would leave it missing from the Platinum, which I probably will never use but keep installed because of the 4 extra software packages that come with Platinum. I have the NewBlue titler that came with VP 14 anyway which works. I just switched on the laptop and ran VP 14 to get the correct name of the working NewBlue titler but VP 14 is now frozen 3/4 way through startup screen😫. The other 2 Vegas programs also kaput. The error message was ... Library failed error 114, DLL initialisation failed. That NewBlue Titler EX is a serious piece of crap software. Maybe Magix should do something about it.

A pity theres no way within Vegas 14 to hide/disable a gammy plugin like this one.

Got the laptop programs going again, all 3 by uninstalling V 14 and reinstalling it, then the other 2 worked.

The correct name of the NewBlue that works is ... NewBlue Titler Pro Express - OpenFX, came with VP 14. Build 160926. Theres nothing in "about" box to say what version.

Does anyone know what it's equivalent, say ver. 3?

If you are trying to use the Titler Pro which came bundled with your Vegas 13, then you are trying to make an outdated Titler Pro 2 work with newer software. It is not going to work. Titler Pro 5 works great with Vegas 14, as Standalone as well as a plugin to VP 14.

JN_; you should check this link

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/newblue-titler-pro-in-vegas-pro-14-updated-information--105034/

Uninstall the Titler which came bundle with your Vegas 13. Make sure you follow the uninstall instruction in the above link and delete the Titler Pro 2 left over folders after uninstallation. Then, try Titler Pro Express 3. I Google the link for Titler Pro Express 3. Maybe search Bluefx website. I remember seeing BlueFX Express 3 given out free after Titler Pro 5 was released.

Its a nightmare, so many posts, it'll take me a day to read. Anyway thanks Suhaib, what came with Platinum is causing the problem, what came with vp 14 is working, I'm curious what version no. The NewBlue TP Express is, I think 3. its build 160926. I left a query on this on one of the other links.

I'm not inclined to mess around too much now after the crash and missing dll issue. I wonder if any other titler plugins work better than NewBlue in Vegas?

Uninstall the Titler which came with Platinum version. It is an ancient version.

Beside built in Pro Type Titler, as Cornico mentioned. There are several options, but cost $$$. They are as expensive, or more, as BlueFx Titler Pro 5. Options are: Boris Continuum Complete. It has Title Studio plugin. Red Giant. If you are willing to spend money, then, you can first download their trial version and try them out on your system. As with every new software, there is a learning curve, which you need to go through.

IMO Vegas Pro has enough titlers and for me no need to use a plugin with problems.
This one can do all I need:

I only ever use the "Credit Roll"😀 I just thought I might someday need something a little more, modern, partly why I raised all of. Cornico, that looks even more complicated than Credit Roll, thanks.

Suhaib, this is a screen grab of all of the NewBlue items installed in Windows.

Looks like the one that came with vp 14 is the top one ver. 1.0? Maybe equivalent to TB ver 3?

I think the dodgy one that came with Platinum 13 is either 4th. or 5th. or both because its name in Vegas referenced MSPPS, whatever that is.

The dates tell nothing as they were all reinstalled.

The one I need removing is NewBlue Titler EX, probably last 2 items?

I do not know anyone of those, except NewBlue Essentials. All the other should be bundled products bundled by MAGIX with Vegas. If so, they must be very old versions of some of the BlueFX plugins. I purchased Vegas Pro v14 Edit without any third party bundled products. I licensed what I need directly from the Boris and NewBlueFx.

Sony used to bundle ancient third party plugins, and charge extra for it, under pro Studio option etc. MAGIX continue same practice of bundling ancient versions of third party plugins as Vegas Pro Studio etc. Why pay for outdated third party plugins for which you cannot get a proper technical support?

If I were you, I would remove all those MAGIX bundled products first, then start adding one plugin at a time to see which cause problems.

Hi Suhaib, I found that its a case of only removing the MSPPS items because some working items also have MSPPS attached, VideoFX, so I think i'll leave as is because since they are sony products theres no guarantee that when i'd reinstall and enter key codes that they'd be accepted.

I know some is like trial versions because it has an "activate" button, but a lot of the stuff does work, pity to lose it by messing around.

Missing dll again vp 14 broken again, probably from just checking, running those NewBlue items😫.

After I reinstall vp 14 I will remove the MSPPS items.

Did you get MSPPS with Vegas? I did Google search on it. These are NewBlueFX products bundled by Sony in Vegas 10 & 11, which may include an incompatible version of ancient Titler. These certainly may cause problems with Vegas v 14. According to one thread, you cannot have Titler Pro and MSPPS on the same workstation. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/newblue-videofx-for-sony-vegas-mspps--93970/

After uninstalling the 2 NewBlue MSPPS items the troublesome NewBlue Titler EX - OpenFX is gone.

Under Media Generators I have now only 1 item .. NewBlue Titler Pro Express - OpenFX.

Under VideoFX for NewBlue I now have ..

1 .. NewBlue Video Essentials VI for Windows

2 .. NewBlue Elements

3 .. NewBlue Essentials

4 .. NewBlue Filters

5 .. NewBlue Stylizers

6 .. NewBlue Titler Pro Express

The items 1 to 5 are all NOT trial-ware.

No crash since I uninstalled the MSPPS items from Windows.

So maybe thats it, as good as it gets and the offending item is gone.

You should get an X on BlueFX trialware. They will work, except that render will have an X on the rendered video.

I guess that 's as good as you can get. The NewBlue Filters, Stylizers, Elements, and Essentials are part of NewBlue TotalFX. That cost almost $1500. I do not believe, that Sony or MAGIX will give them as a bundled product, except throw in trial versions. If you do not need them, it maybe a good idea to remove the NewBlue Elements, Essentials, Filters and Stylizers. Most probably the bundled trialware are also outdated. Recently BlueFX released new version of TotalFX Complete 5.0. That will keep the system clean.

I mistakenly included item 6, it works ok of course as it came with vp 14.

I've edited that comment now.

I had previously incorrectly reported items 1-5 as trialware but that was because either I had accidentally enabled split screen or the items do this, for a comparison, I then took that as trialware, LOL. Anyway they work. They came partly or all with one of the 3 software packages. I reedited that post.

Is build 160926 that I am using older/need to be updated to 161118?

Initially I found this post of yours a bit cryptic, I may have been worn out from it all. Now it makes sense as I've discovered they aren't trial ware. Basically the items 1-5 come with vp 14.

Quitter wrote on 5/1/2017, 6:33 AM

The NewBlue bundle includes not all FX of TotalFX, only the numbers in brace characters
160926 is the second update 161118 the last
Your items 2-6 come with VP14, you should have a serial for that

NewBlue Video Essentials VI comes with SVP13

I do, somewhere. So basically there a subset of the full TotalFX product. Your numbers in brackets represent the number of items? If so, mine match for Elements, Essentials, Filters but I have just 2 for Stylizers, Glow Pro and RGB Shift?

My NewBlue Video Essentials VI for Windows are not part of the vp 14? Maybe came with Platinum 13?

I guess I should update to 161118, is it more stable?

Thanks Quitter

161118 (shows 161119) is the first that works without failure messages and includes the whole TitlerFX-libaries
