offset time (want to create!)

weird subject line, i know.. ok, what im looking for..

you know when you drop a clip in vegas with audio, and you say, IGNORE grouping, you can then take and move the audio (or video) and it will show you the offset in RED... nice...
is there anyway to do this with all audio files, or whatever files you have, to create a GROUP essentially, but not really have it be a group

i do a lot of audio only in vegas (i know im in the video section, but this applies to video/audio just as much)
so, i would like to set up my tracks, and once i get it in time, select all, and do a GROUP.. but not really.. i want to be able to cut out sections of audio without effecting the other tracks, above, below, and the only way to do this is to IGNORE GROUPING, then this removes itself from the group automatically (if you cut the file while set to ignore) not cool..
i would love to have it all lock in red, i can go around and cut, and fade, and on and on, but if i slide anything in the time line left or right, it would show me how far off i am in seconds/frames whatever.,...
hope this makes sense!

thanks
pj

I think I understand. It sounds like you want an option where once you lay your audio tracks down on the timeline you can "lock" the sync (at least have a reference lock) and if you change that "lock" it alerts you. But you don't want an actual lock, just a reference type lock.

Vegas does not do this, but there might be someone that can right some kind of script that does it.

perfectly put Dave T2, just what i am looking for...
a sync (you can move it, but it will show you the distance moved since last reference lock point was created...)

do it vegas, do it!

You can do this but not quite as simply.
After you get all your audio tracks synced render them to a multichannel wave file and bring that back into Vegas. Problem solved. You then need to assign channels but that's it really.

Much discussion about it here:

Also refer to the Vegas manual and online help.
