Once again, can't open MP4 from Mac in Vegas

I received an MP4 file from a client that he needs burned to a Blu-ray.

Vegas won't let me put the file on the timeline - it displays no information about the file in the explorer.

Windows Media Player will play it.

Quicktime Pro 7.7.3 says: Error - 2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie

VLC will play it, and it says: Codec: MPEG-4 Video (mp4v), Resolution 1920x1080, Frame rate 30, Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV, Audio MPEG AAC, Stereo, 44100khz

How can I make this into something Vegas 12 build 486 will understand?

Tell him to give you a ProRes file because Vegas will read that.

An earlier version of Quicktime "may" take care of it.

I hate MP4. Vegas won't successfully open any frm my Nokia. The audio cuts out after 2 seconds or so.

I have to open it in Squeeze, render it back out, then load it in Vegas.

Sigh.
