Panoramic Views

Hi,

I've got a Sony Cybershot camera tha takes Panoramic pictures, they play on the camera and in PMB.

In the help file it says, "Added support for reading MPO (multiple picture object) 3D still images and sweep panorama images".

I've tried to add them to the timeline but they do not 'play' but simply show the whole picture.

Please advise as I've googled this without any success and youtube did not help either.

Warm Regards

3D photos aren't the same as 3D video, Paul. I don't think you can drop a 3D photo onto your timeline and have it play as 3D video.

HI,

Understand, but I don't want to see 3D photos.

I have taken panoramic photo with my Sony camera it is like a thin rectangular jpg.

When played on my camera it goes from left to right as also on PMB

Can this be done on Vegas?

Paul

Thank for looking at my post :-)

You can pan and zoom any still image that you can import to the timeline, but it will not be automatic. If, when you drop the image on the timeline, you see the entire image with black on the top and bottom .. you will need to zoom in first to (for instance) the extreme left of the image so that there is not any black showing on the top or bottom.

Then you can pan all the way to the extreme right side. You can stop while panning for an interesting object / person and even zoom in further .. then zoom out and continue with the pan.

Brighterside is exactly correct.

I've been putting panoramas in my videos for years. I make the panorama images from several individual still photos using a program called AutoPano Giga. It seamlessly stitches multiple photos together to make them look like one.

The resulting stitched JPG image is just like any other JPG - it is a still image. What the OP is questioning is why Vegas doesn't include the automatic panning action that h is camera provides. The answer, of course, is that Vegas doesn't do that. Instead, as Brighterside stated, if you want to pan across an image in Vegas you have to use the Pan/Zoom function.

Fortunately this works very well. Earlier versions of Vegas had trouble accepting a large panorama JPG file (some of mine are 50 MB in size) but the 64-bit version sdo this fine.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your help and hope and enthusiasm for my project.

To pan I beleve I use the pan/crop dialog.

To zoom to get rid of the black above and below should I use the same or the Track Motion dialog. I've managed to pan (bit rusty :-) ) but I can't seem to zoom (or with the pan/crop I can zoom but it makes no difference when run).

Thanks for your valuable support and I believe in 'what comes round goes round' so something good is going to happen to you!!
