Print to tape

Hi all,

I am trying to send an AVI, MPEG whatever to a VHS tape. As primitive as it sounds this is what I need to do. I have read another topic which seems similar to what I want to do but was of little help to me as my issue is different. I will list the equipment I am using:

Dell Workstation 2.4Ghz, 512mb ram
ATI Radeon 7500 All in Wonder
VCR (not equiped with an S-VHS connection)

When I try to use the print to tape I get a black screen, so since its not blue I assume that the VCR is at least recording.

Do I need a conversion box of some sort? What am I doing wrong? I am pretty confident that my wiering is correct but if someone suspects that this is the issue I am more than open to taking a 4th look at that.

Thanx in advance
Yhubu

Can you list the software and procedure you are using as well? How is the VCR connected to the computer? I'm guessing you're trying to view the file in something like MediaPlayer while sending the output through the TV out on the ATI card and connecting this out to the Video In on the VCR. Is this correct?

Yhubu,
I had an All-In-Wonder card that I used for this purpose. There is a setting you need to change. I think it's called "theater mode" or something to that effect. I think it was under the Advanced tab of Display Property Settings in the control panel. If it's not setup properly you will see the computer screen on your TV, but NOT the video that's playing.

I am using Windows XP professional and the ATI software that came with the card, namely ATI TV for my captures and then Video Factory to edit. I use the TV out RCA wire directly from the card and plug that into the video in on my vcr. I get sound from the line out on my sound card.

I would like to try using Video Factory to output because the ATI software puts a black bar at the bottom of the screen. I spoke with ATI who told me that this is simply the nature of ALL ATI cards, hence why I would like to see what Video Factory does. I sorta assumed that the print to tape is what I should be using but am begining to wonder if I need a digital/analog conversion box...

When I click on my Advanced display properties I am presented with 11 tabs. I can't find on any tab an option for various modes.
