Print to tape: minimum system requirements

Should I reasonably expect to be able to print to a DV camcorder without dropouts using a 600MHz PIII? I can almost do it, but I get an audio dropout less than 1sec long, every few minutes. I tried two different cameras, different tape, same result. Mouse clicking on the desktop forces a dropout, although the system resouce meter shows only about 10% normally. Any ideas?

I'm running Win98SE, with a 7200RPM hard drive.

You can print DV with a 600 proc. Make sure your drives are defragged, and that DMA is on for all drives. It is really all about system tweaking- it can be done!

Yes, I use my wife's P2-350 for DV i/o (with an external firewire drive).

Dunno if it's an issue in VV3, but I learned long ago not to use .mp3's with NLE because they will sometimes drop out.

Thanks for your help, turning DMA on for the hard drive got me over the hump.
