I still wonder after purchasing Vegas Pro 17 why there is not a paid plug in option to use Vegas effects and Vegas image. Having already purchased Vegas pro17, at the moment it would seem to me I have to request a refund then uninstall Vegas Pro17 then reinstall Vegas pro 17 and install Vegas Effects/Image all a bit unnecessary IMHO. As I am in my late 70's day sadly all a bit too much I'm afraid...…...Gary-Rebholz, perhaps I will do it when Pro18Post becomes available.

@bmgstl, Sorry; that's an obscure bug we've become aware of that affects some users. We're looking into it as quickly as we can.

@pioneer109, There is an upgrade option From VEGAS Pro to VEGAS POST. Scroll to the bottom of this page: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-post/ and click the Upgrade button. Admittedly the process is a little clumsier than we'd like it to be at the moment, but it is available for you.

pioneer109 wrote on 8/16/2019, 11:16 AM

Ok gary-rebholz, I can see the upgrade price, however as I have only just purchased Vegas Pro17 from where I stand I dont think its fair to have pay the upgrade price quoted for Vegas Post for the Vegas Pro17 Edit program again. Sorry, but nevertheless, thanks for the reply Gary. Thanks anyway for what the team do with Vegas.

bmgstl wrote on 8/16/2019, 12:14 PM

is there a way I can switch from post 365 and got to vegas 17 365 I'm sure its more stable then post seems as the loss of using effects currently isn't a good thing. Luckily I didn't uninstall 16 but I don't see were I can possibly get a refund. Any idea on when the situation may be resolved?

gary-rebholz wrote on 8/16/2019, 2:33 PM

@bmgstl, if you really want a refund, contact our support team: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/support/. If you happen to be online as I write this, they have chat open right now (it's open 12:00 to 4:00 Central each weekday). If chat is not open when you see this, send them a support request at: https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/vegas/form.

All that said, the version of VP17 in VEGAS POST is exactly the same as the regular version so it will be no more or less stable. The bug your hitting in VEGAS Effects is unfortunate, but we're working on fixing it.

Same here, I'm surprised that there isn’t an upgrade option to “Post” without the included VP17 for users that have already purchased VP17. Not everyone wants another VP17 licence.

@JN_(and others) You might try to use the support request link given above. Click "Please select your product" and choose "Pre-Sale Questions". I too got the impression that you would need to pay difference only if you already had upgraded to VP 17. May have been a misunderstanding.

I've been reading the sys reqs for POST. I have this:

as well as a NVIDIA 1070 w/ 8 gig.

Is tis sufficient to run POST?

Does anyone know what 'flavor' of VEGAS Pro comes with POST? (Edit, Platinum, or Suite)

You get:

  • VEGAS Pro 17 Edit
  • VEGAS Effects
  • VEGAS Image

You do not get any of the third-party plug-ins that come with other offerings of VEGAS Pro (e.g., the Boris plug-ins that come with VEGAS Pro Suite).

You also get VEGAS DVD Architect, but we don't make much noise about that because so many have it already and it is not a new version, but it's included.

It is not even clear which version of VP17 you get with Vegas Post: Regular VP17 that comes with one BCC plugin as written in the official description or VP17 Edit as per your answer ?

VidGuy069 wrote on 8/17/2019, 3:32 PM

You get VP Edit. The others are just Edit with add-ons. Functionally, I think they're identical.

@JN_ It is a surprise to me considering that one already upgraded to/bought VP 17. Thanks for informing us.

JN_ wrote on 8/19/2019, 8:32 AM

@vkmast Surprise to me too, bit of an own goal. No way most people that have already upgraded or purchased VP will likely consider spending another say ~ €549, unless they have a good use for an extra VP17 licence.

It may well be that Magix simply cannot disconnect the VP licence part from “Post” for technical reasons, who knows.

There is also the "one upgrade per serial number" policy AFAIK.

Not sure I follow, is it relevant to getting Post at less than ~€549?

You cannot get the upgrade price if you already used your serial number to get VP 17? I guess you'd need to use the VP17 S/N to get an upgrade price to Post?

JN_ wrote on 8/19/2019, 12:07 PM

@vkmast Yes that's correct, but it’s academic at this stage given the Magix response.

One way would be to upgrade to VP17, the version you want (because with Post you are forced to go with Edit), and then buy a licence of HITFILM Pro 13 for $300. You would have to accept not having the third component of Post, Image. Not an issue for me. However while trying this with Hitfilm Express (which is free), I could not open hitfilm by right-clicking on a clip in the Vegas timeline, whiile it used to be possible, the integration was perfect. Not sure if it is related to the release of Post or something I am missing. Another point is that Hitfilm pro 13 has very interesting plug ins (included in the base prince) such as BCC 3D objects, Mocha mask tracking, etc I am not sure it is the case of Vegas Post. Maybe FXhome kept the best for themselves...

AVsupport wrote on 8/20/2019, 6:14 PM

I already own VP17, HitFilmPro and IgnitePro. Both FXHome products are, again, like last year, and the year before, version locked to the previous VP16, even though they are supposed to be OFX, and not working in this VP17 release.

FXHome customer service suggests that 'VP17 functionality is being worked on"

Given the close relationship with Magix offering the same product in a different package, I have little hope that this 'bug-fix' is high on their agenda;

The current upgrade offer for Vegas Post doesn't consider this situation, and offers no 'back to mumma - crossgrade' benefits at all.

There's no way I can justify AUD $780 for what's essentially a renewal of an existing functionality that should already be in place..

And I cannot see an option to purchase 'Vegas Effects' standalone anywhere...

@gary-rebholz , any workable solutions out there for your VP fanboys?

my current Win10/64 system (latest drivers, water cooled) :

Intel Coffee Lake i5 Hexacore (unlocked, but not overclocked) 4.0 GHz on Z370 chipset board,

16GB (2x8GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR4-2133) XMP-3000 RAM,

Intel 600series 512GB M.2 SSD system drive running Win10/64 home automatic driver updates,

4TB 7200RPM NAS HGST data drive,

Intel HD630 iGPU - currently disabled in Bios,

nVidia GTX1060 6GB, always on latest [creator] drivers. nVidia HW acceleration enabled.

main screen 4K/50p 1ms scaled @175%, second screen 1920x1080/50p 1ms.

Dock wrote on 8/21/2019, 5:32 AM

Honestly, I do not understand the price point of Vegas Post: if I upgrade to Vegas Post, I have to pay $550.

If I upgrade to Vegas Pro 17 edit, I have to pay $200. Then I purchase Hitfilm Pro 13 for $300, so I pay overall $50 less: true I do not have the image editor but this is more than offset to me by the plug-ins that come with Hitfilm: BCC 3D objects and Mocha tracking... Normally when you launch a new product in a competitive market, you try to make it attractive from a price stand-point?
