Rendering/Lack of Memory

Vache Glacée wrote on 6/19/2012, 8:03 PM
Hi everyone,

I have tried all the tips on the Vegas page as well as some other sites regarding memory and rendering. However I still have not fixed the problem. Everything I make in movie maker 11 will not render at any quality.

What system looks like with Vegas running in background:

What system looks like when attempting to render:

Any tips would be appreciated, Thanks!

What type of video files? (MediaInfo can help you with that).

What format/template are you rendering to?

Do the project properties match the video settings?

This is an example of one of the video files:

1.MPEG-4 (QT) 32.1MiB, 12s 762ms
1 vid steam AVC
1 aud stream AAC

2. My preference is the HD Internet Video template 1280x720 but I've tried them all to no avail.

3. I believe so

Guess I should just buy more RAM?

The 3GB restriction is limited to 32 bit systems correct?

Your sys specs show 6GB of RAM so that's how much you are able to use.

I don't see any mention of an error message you might be getting. Does MS specifically say you're low on memory?

I have a seemingly similar PC and no issues at all, and the memory looks similar to yours when it's rendering; though I suggest trying to use the MainConcept AVC/AAC Sony Tablet 720p profile (it near maxes out all the cores).

32 bit vs 64 bit
Further to that
Notable fixes/changes in version 11.0 (MStudio Build 37, MSPlatinum Build 283)

Here is the exact error I am getting when I am trying to render.

Vegas Movie Studio can now address up to 4 GB of memory when running on a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Thanks, I thought there was some sort of difference between the two.

hi there,

i used to get that fault as well.

i solved it by closing all the preview windows and effects windows so that only the timeline was left on the screen. once this was done i select make movie to select my render settings.

fya, i am building the movie with multi cameras including go pro sony and an old panasonic dv, i can even mix 3 d no problems.

i also run it on my laptop so you should have no problems with your system.

also read up on how to use sysconfig in windows to disable anything running in the background.

hope this helps

taff.

I tried your suggestion of closing to no avail. I even tried rendering something extremely non complex like a 5 second jpeg but it still won't work.

I also do not think it is a problem with my system.

I think I might be giving up on this software soon. Far too many crashes and workarounds all to render a simple video.

Have you done an uninstall/install on VMS? If not, it might be time to do so.

Done, but nothing changed. I can't even get to the Render as screen as the program crashes every time I try to "make movie" per se

I checked for a memory leak and found nothing. I don't know anymore....

same problem for me in Platinum 11 HD. I edit Sony mpeg files (AC3) on XPSP3 with 2 G RAM.

What I experienced is that when the size of the SonyEditor process is around 1 GB, the program stops, does not respond to keystroke/mouse click - independent on actual task (even while I simple preview in explorer tab).
Only the process stop helps...(but the editing is lost, only the last autosave comes back, if there is any...)

I also have been having this problem. The thing is, it worked before just fine. I can make MOV files but they look and sound terrible. I was trying to create a WMV 6 mp 5 minute promo and I keep getting a memory error. It also crashes a lot. (I'm on Windows XP 32bit)

I'm getting really concerned about this software as I have seen this issue in many forum posts with no clear solution or any fix to the multitude of crash problems.
