Should Explorer in VEGAS view OneDrive/Google Drive/ Dropbox?

This might come across as counter intuitive to the existing feature of VEGAS Hub's cloud storage facility, but sooner or later, as VEGAS gains momentum and popularity, I feel that it'll get noticed with judgement.

Even though, it is nice that we have a panel where we can just double click and uploaded footage just hops into the timeline, let's be honest here:

  1. The main reason why the subscription model is coveted is mainly due to story blocks & TTS.
  2. Phone owners have access to Google Drive & iCloud by default.
  3. The 1+ up that Vegas' Cloud has over these other two is a panel that allows you to double click them into the timeline. That's it.

I'm trying to imagine people currently working with the ownership license.

"I have google drive. Why can't they just let me browse it through Explorer tab when its synced?"

it's a simple quality of life feature that I'm sure users will appreciate and in the long run, will make them feel that Vegas Creative Software doesn't want them to feel excluded if they choose to use their own cloud storage facility.

It would cause no end of headaches for support and users. It would require full time coders on staff just to keep up with API changes. Should Vegas automatically issue a new version every time Google changes its API? 'Cause people would HOWL if it didn't. It should be more than apparent what will happen; we've already seen it with YT integration.........................................................................

I can see that being true under the assumption that VEGAS needs to deal with anything related to Google Drive's syncing procedures, for example.

However, if a file has been synced (which tends to happen either selectively or automatically via Google Drive) and all VEGAS fetches is the data that's ALREADY in your C Drive for instance?

You are correct

No, that's not the case: people will expect their files to sync and download with the push of a button and HOWL if they don't. It is a rather naïve assumption that they won't. And Google can delay visibility for hours when things get busy.

I have been dead set against gratuitous "soccermom" and "gee whiz" features in Vegas Pro for the last twenty years, and I shall continue to do so, even though the game has changed.

Magix can cleary state that it does not support syncing .. problem solved. However I do agree that it is not very important feature but rather nice to have.

Like plumbing and electrical things around my house, with each new numbered version, I'd prefer the coders focus on maintaining things that we already had working for the last decade.

Alas, these soccermom features have made it and are most likely here to stay.

Personally, I see the storage facility as a redundancy

For cripes sakes, my onedrive is a bloody terabite and Google Drive's free version offers 5 gigabytes less then the basic vegas subscription - more then enough to transfer tiktok vids.

But its here and judging by how its advertised, the vegas team are not only proud of it but are confident in its supposed utility.

Ill leave the feasibility of my suggestion to the coders' judgement.

Now that VEGAS is set to be 19 for a long while, this is actually something we can expect to be addressed since devs are no longer tied to a specific dates as with other numbered iterations.

At least, thats the principle

I have my files setup so that they are directly synced to my Google Drive via FTP I then have the files mirrored on either my desktop or laptop, which allows me to access them within Vegas for editing.
