Stabilize in VMS12 vs VMS11

Has anyone noticed that the Stabilizer plugin and its method of use have changed?

VMS 11 - Was based on Mercalli from proDAD. Needed to right click on event in timeline and select stabilize. There were about 6 options. You could see if a clip was stabilized as it was a viewed as a different 'take'.

VMS 12 - Now we have have to right click, 'select in project media list' (I haven't typically used the Project Media List). Once you find it, you right click again and select ' Media FX". Then you have to find the Stabilize plugin (actually Sony Stabilize). There are a 3 parameters which you have control over. Click apply. There is no discernable way to see which clips have been stabilized by the timeline as far as I can tell. In the Project Media tab, you can see if there is a Media FX. This appears to be a more cumbersome implementation.

Am I missing something?

On a related note, is there any way to sort the Project Media tab by where the clips occur in the timeline? I didn't see a column that would do that. With short AVCHD files, all timecode in values are 0.000.

You don't have to select the clip in project media list. You can apply the stabilize function directly onto the timeline event as media fx.

Have you tried that in V12? I get a message telling me that i shouldn't be doing that.

In VMS12:

Selecting the VIDEO FX tab then STABILIZE from the list of effects and let's say the LIGHT STABILIZATION preset and dropping it directly onto a clip in on a video track opens a Video Event FX window with an added message box which reads:

You've added the Stabilize plug-in to an event. This plug-in must be applied to a clip or subclip as a media effect.

I agree - This is different than Version 11.

Yup, that's the message - thanks!
