You would need a program like Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 ($45), which can create SVCD’s. Then just output from VF as an AVI file and import into DVD MF2 and author your SVCD.

If you have an MPEG2 plugin, then you can create an SVCD. A VCD is MPEG1. There should be an SVCD template included. YOu don't need Ulead to create the MPEG file, but you do need burning software such as Nero to actually create the CD. When it is creating the CD, it adds some files that are recognized by the DVD player.

The reason I recommended Ulead DVD MovieFactory is because the original question asked abut making an SVCD from VideoFactory, which doesn’t have an MPEG2 encoder out of the box. If you purchased the MPEG2 plugin, then you could make an SVCD compliant MPEG2 file with VideoFactory but, as DaveT2 suggested, you still need a program to burn the SVCD format to CD.

Well I have been very dissapointed by the quality of SVCD.. I think my VCD's look better. I tried everything. TMPGENC, VF MPEG2 encoder. and have been dissapointed. I am not sure getting a DVD burner will make it look better.

It did for me. But first, you might want to try the SVCD TMPGEnc template from my web site. This was the best I could get from SVCD. Not DVD quality but better than VCD. I never really liked the output quality from VCD or SVCD either. That’s why I bought a DVD burner. Now my DVD’s are as good as the original DV quality.

You have to remember, SVCD is limited to 2520 kbit/sec while DVD uses 8000 kbits/sec. That’s a big difference. I think you’ll find DVD quality to be quite acceptable.

Have you tried your SVCDs in a different DVD player? I had the same problem before I got a new one - it seems there are degrees of compatibility!
