Ultra crash demo do stinky

Hey all
I have just downloaded the demo today and Vegas has crashed
5 times in the past couple of hours.
It usually goes down when I am trying to mix tracks and
mess with buss compression at the same time. Windows is
still running fine so I think it’s some issue with
Vegas……..My set up is as follows
PII 233 128M sdram 4.3G IDE drive Win98 Alesis PRC card
……….. I am monitoring through the PRC 1+2 on buss A sent
out to my Fostex RD-8. I am also having trouble assigning
tracks to separate busses , the buss selector doesn’t even
show up in my track options !!!! Hope that I can get this
demo working soon and wonder what’s going on . I have read
the entries on the list and have not seen any one with as
bad luck with the software as I have been having
…..probably user error .
thanks in advance

Any details on the crash would be helpful.

Busses:

How many do you have set up? You need to go to the project properties to
increase/decrease the number of main buses. When you have more than one main
bus, the tracks will allow you to assign them to any main bus. You will also be
able to route a track to any of the buses as an AUX send.

Thanks
Peter

Thanks for your attention Peter , I will try to be more accurate with my
responses.
I have just gone to Preferences / Routing / custom buss again to check .
I am able to use the circle buttons to select buss routing for all busses A-Z
but the top bar has buss B to Z grayed out . Only the Preview and buss A show
up in black text along the top .Back on the main page, in the master section,
only the Preview and buss A are available. The options available on the tracks
are FX, Rec, Mute, & Solo. No buss options here either ??? When I go to set up
the recording input buss all of my PRC inputs show up and work just fine. ( Tip
: when selecting these inputs the window closes after you chose the input pair.
As the PRC represents multi tracks as stereo pairs I must re-open this window
and select which side I want to use L or R . Not a big deal but if your setting
lots of inputs it gets a little fidgety ). Hope this is helpful to you and will
be spending lots of time with the software over the next few days so I'll write
back if I find any more stuff.Less crashing today ....dunno what was causing it
....possibly some voodoo curse....

Later.....
Jello

In order to increase the number of main buses, you must set the Project
Properties to the number of buses you want. This is set from Files | Properties
(Alt-Enter) Audio tab. Once you set the number of buses you want, then in the
routing page, you will have the appropriate bus assignments available.

The setting of the record ports is on our list for a future rev. Can be a bit
iritating when setting up a lot of tracks for recording.
