Unmanaged exception crash triggered by 1350 project width

gabgilson wrote on 7/8/2020, 6:09 AM

I think I've found a work around for this, but I would be grateful if anyone has any info on why this was happening. A project width of 1350 triggers an unmanaged exception crash in vegas pro 17. Width of 1352 (or any other width) is fine.

I'm making a bunch of short clips for a social media campaign. Each clip is needed in several crops for different platforms: 16-9, 1-1, 9-16 etc. For each crop, I use the same time line, copy the clip edit, change the project width and height to match the desired crop and then move all the assets around so they fit the new shape. Long winded but gives much better results than just cropping the final video.

PC running Ryzen 3600 and RTX 2060. Vegas pro 17. It's been running fine for days, then this morning I got constant unmanaged exception crashes. Finally worked out that putting a project width of 1350 is what triggers it. 1352 fine, 608 fine.

So the workaround is obvious, but I would love to know what is going on. Does anyone have an idea why that width triggers the crash?

Thanks in advance.

1350 isn't dividable by 8 to give a whole number could be the reason. But I wouldn't expect it to crash. What template are you using to render and what GPU use?

Thanks for info and thoughts so far.

Tried it with RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 GPU (had both in for testing). Same problem on both - reinstalled drivers each time. It's on timeline playback, I can't get as far as render. Project is 1350 * 1080.

Must be a scaling issue somewhere.
