Using lower thirds on a movie clip

I am creating a slide show in Vegas Platinum 10 which includes short movie clips. I have inserted a lower third of dark blue on the bottom of the movie clip which automatically covers every frame of the movie which is what I want. However, I want to insert a different line of text on each frame of the movie to make a comment on what is happening on the screen as the movie plays and I cannot find a way to do this since one text frame covers the whole of the movie. I am hopeful that someone may be able to help.

Each separate piece of different text that you want to present requires a separate text event. You can still use the one single lower third across the entire timeline, but each time you want the text to change you have to finish that text event and start a new one.

Use a "text frame" that has the checkboard background. That is "shorthand" for transparent .. then only the letters/words will actually show over your video.

Thanks for the advice - now I know what's possible and what's not I can hopefully make progress!
