Video out of sync when opening VMS 15 project in VP 16

skrootayp wrote on 6/13/2019, 8:58 PM

Hi all. This is my 1st post on here since the Sony days. Can I get a VMS 15 project to open cleanly and without fault in VP 16 suite? When I try, most of the video is out of sync (even though the events appear to be in their proper timeline positions). Even tried copying all events from VMS 15 project to fresh VP 16 while both were open but get same result. Really appreciate help if you can.

David

Hi David.
What do you mean by video out of sync?
With what is it out of sync, cannot with itself, but f.i. with the audiofile that belongs to the same event.

Look at the Media Properties when open in each version. Are both Vegas versions using the same Decoder?

Right, vid is out of sync with the music. It's a concert with additional overlaid images. The overlaid images track actually appears to have remained in sync but the 2 tracks of multi cam band footage are out. The events are in the right positions but all the band footage within the events is now a couple seconds behind. I'll check decoders.

What would I be looking for in this info?

Marco. wrote on 6/15/2019, 9:50 AM

The frame rate. It's variable instead of constant. And that is likely causing the issue. But in VP16 in Options/Preferences/General there is an selectable option how Vegas Pro should handle variable frame rate video. You could set it to prefer sync.

Musicvid wrote on 6/15/2019, 10:30 AM

Yes, variable frame rate, and also this "possibility," since two versions give different decoding results.

[ELATION] Well, I found the option "Favor audio sync when playing VFR media" and was immediately discouraged to see it was already checked so I figured I guess I could try unchecking it for the heck of it -- and after restarting program, Voila. Back in sync. Very grateful for your time M, M and J! Thanks for showing me some further things in VP.
