Black frames in imported media

Adrian-Ybarra schrieb am 01.06.2021 um 07:02 Uhr

I’m using Vegas Pro 18 (Build 527 and Build 482).

Videos from my DSLR are not playing on the timeline. I get occasional frames but also a lot of black frames. The videos play fine in VLC, Vegas 14, and Premiere Pro.  There is no problem with the audio.

I have tried setting GPU acceleration to none as well as enabling the deprecated features and some other options.

Nothing has worked to correct the problem. I’m using an NVIDA Quadro P2200 on an i9-10900x with 64GB RAM / Windows 10. I have confirmed that the problem exists with video I had previously edited in Vegas 14 on a different machine.

Any suggestions on how to correct the problem?

What's dynamic ram preview set to?
Can you share a screenshot of file i/o?

RogerS, Thank you for your help.

Turning on (checking) Preferences->File I/O -> Enable Legacy AVC decoding appears to have corrected the issue.

I have left Enable legacy HEVC decoding on (the default) and Enable MKV Reader off.

I had tried various settings for Dynamic RAM preview (200, 30000, and 32768). I had also tried resetting the settings several times (via CTRL+SHIFT) and uninstalling / reinstalling.

Again, thanks for directing me to the solution.

Glad that workaround helped. A bit surprised it is needed though.

For dynamic ram preview, a few GB is enough if you're using it. Half system ram is far too much. Return to 200 to render.
