Capture Video Crash with Wide DV

Hi All,

I've been getting crashes trying to transfer video from my Canon HV20 when I use

Stuff:
Canon HV20
Windows XP sp2
Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0d
Sony Video Capture 6.0e build 1000

Steps:
Canon HV20 was set to shoot in DV format, WIDE

1) Plug in firewire
2) turn on HV20
3) Choose Movie Studio to capture
4) Choose DV
5) Click Capture Video - plays for 1 second then hangs.

The video will play in the Capture Window. I tried Nero Vision but I ended up with an audio codec that Movie Studio didn't recognize.

Any Ideas what I'm doing wrong? This is actually the first time I used the Wide DV format. I've had no issues using the HDV formats.

TIA,
Randy

Probably an incompatibility of the camera. I have heard similar issues with FCP (or was it Premiere)? Not much you can do I guess, especially if it happens on the new version of Vegas too.

Just shoot HDV.

Hi Randy,
You said you have captured before with 'the HDV formats' and had no problems. Have you mixed formats on the same tape? I understand that is good for a mess most times in capture. Let us know if this could be the issue. Cin

Hi,

No, I didn't mix formats. I started with a brand new tape, put it in the Canon HV20, turned it on, and set it to HD Wide. Seemed like a safe set of steps.
