@Denicio

Oh, two of my best pals live in the Liverpool 'area'. One in Frodsham and the other in Runcorn. Visited twice and absolutely fell in love with the area. One of my trips i was treated to a Bed & Breakfast in the Lake District (heaven on earth). There i got to live out my 'Supertramp' bucket list item. I had kippers for breakfast.

Hi, got to ask, where in the world do you live?

I live in Memphis, TN, USA

I met my Runcorn pal (Graham) in 2002 on the Steinberg/Nuendo forums. I'd often cite The Young Ones quotes in my comments to him while asking him for computer help. Well, the universe decided we should be friends and a friendship was started. He's help me build mega computers all these years. He knows more about the motherboards and chip sets i use than the tech support at the respective companies! He is a genius. Then around 2009 he introduced me to a drummer friend of his who was needing a rock vocalist and a mix for his......wait for it.......Viking Heavy Metal FARTING album. I had a pal of mine sing all the lead vocals and i mixed the album. His name is Andy and lives in Frodsham. I have visited twice. My mates have taken me to no less than 10 castles, taken me to Tea Shops, introduced me to most excellent British food like Black Pudding (also a Curry shop in Frodsham is a top 10 meal for me), they've driven me to Edinburgh to have Haggis in Scotland (a bucket list item for me)....and so much more. These two distant BFF's are very near and dear to me. I've always argued that the stork dropped me off 4000 miles too far to the west. For reasons i cant explain i adore old BBC comedies and endless British Comedians (quite addicted to ALL things Ricky Gervais)

And....for your amusement....here is one or two of the songs off that Farty album....the album's title is "Sacred Wind" (the pun IS intended). There is a book that accompanies this album. It reads like Tolkien! And i am not even kidding a little!

And here is a song called "Metal and Curry".

The album was a hoot to work on.

Oh, then a year later Andy did a Xmas song with the Sacred Wind theme!

They have both stayed at my home two times each (for a week) while i showed them the blues, rock and roll and BBQ. And they have hosted me in Brittan quite graciously.

Hey folks, bumping this OLDer thread. The time has come for me to upgrade my video card as it was suggested i do here a year ago.

Here is the card my Computer DAW Guru told me would work in my system. Is this something that Vegas will work with without issue?

Probably... we don't have much data with RTX 40XX GPUs yet for performance or compatibility. They clearly aren't selling well or enticing many upgrades. For the performance data we do have see benchmarks in my signature.

One caveat with the lower-end 40XX GPUs is they have low memory bandwidth even compared to their predecessor cards which may matter more for video editing than gaming. If you could get a last-gen higher end card (even used say 3070, 3070ti) for a similar price to the 4060 I'd go for that.

Roger,

Thanks for the reply. I will look at the other cards as well. How quiet are they? 90% of what i do in my studio is Audio recording. The computer sits next to me and emits a very quiet whirrrr. I dont need to add additional fan noise to my studio for the small amount of video work i am doing.

As many has pointed out. Your system GPU is not up to the task, way out of date. It is incapable to running newer software with GPU. Unless you disable the GPU and run it strictly CPU. Just a note, your system is not a beast of a system by any means. As of today, there are many systems will way 300-400 % faster then your, when compare to power house system.

Intel i9 Core Ultra 285K Overclocked all P Cores @5.6, all E-Cores @5ghz

MSI MEG Z890 ACE Gaming Wifi 7 10G Super Lan, thunderbolt 4

48GB DDR5 -8200mhz Overclocked @8800mhz

Crucial T705 nvme .M2 2TB Gen 5  OS. 4TB  gen 4 storage

RTX 5080 16GB  Overclocked 3.1ghz, Memory Bandwidth increased from 960 GB/s to 1152 GB/s

Custom built hard tube watercooling.

When i had it built it was a beast. Today, its just fast-ish.

With all you said then getting a new video card with more GPU is the remedy? Or is GPU something inherent to my computer irrelevant of the video card i have now. Trying to understand your reply. Spell it out to me like i am in 5th grade :-) Please...

GPU and video card are the same thing, GPU means "Graphics Processing Unit".

I second getting a RTX 3070Ti or higher, it should be sufficient several more years to come.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

For quietness each GPU maker has a lineup with bigger heatsinks and better fans on their more premium models. There are reviews that test noise, so look around YouTube for information. Some also let you choose noise vs power in settings, too.

Thanks for the answers here!

My computer guru has suggested i look at this one. Any thoughts on how it will work with vegas.

While i appreciate the nod to the RTX3070, its more than i care to spend on this. Again, i am not doing heavy duty graphics with Vegas. My needs are minimum. I just need to get a new card that runs with the current version.

What do you think about this one?

Anyone (on my last reply) ??

RogerS schrieb am 19.07.2023 um 01:35 Uhr

It's a modern GPU. If it's the best one you can afford go for it, should work well in VEGAS and beyond.

Roger, thanks for the reply and vote of confidence on this card.
