Crashing due to "kernelbase.dll" error

Guidi11 schrieb am 20.04.2021 um 17:35 Uhr

Hi folks!

This crash happens when I´m opening already existing projects. If I open the software and start a new project, it crashes only when I try to import the first video.

I went after all methods I could find to try and fix it. That means that my windows and all my drivers are up to date, and I have also tried through command prompt the "sfc /scannow" routine to no success. Another unsuccessful attempt was to replace the "kernelbase.dll" file using the same file from another computer with the exact same OS, but windows does not let me replace the file because it says it is in use.

One thing that allowed me to open the already existing projects was to remove the "compoundplug.dll" from C:\Program Files\VEGAS\Movie Studio Platinum 16, but obviously it opened but did not work or show any video. But maybe that is a clue?

Really hoping to get some help, this is nerve wracking.

This is what Vegas says on the crash report:

Hi David,

Sorry, my solution was never using Vegas again. It seems like this is an old issue, and it also seems that people at the software company couldn't care less.
