- Frame-accurate control on Thumbnail start time selection - DVDA1 had this

I don't understand. DVDA2 *CAN* do this. Just type in the exact number of the frame in the thumbnail properties.

- Auto-chapter distribution (eg. every 5 minutes, place a chapter)

That's where I use a script to automatically place the markers on the timeline in Vegas. Then I render and they are transferred to DVDA for me.

How about true end actions for each menu item, ie.. choose transitions to and from events, and rollover effects to buttons, as well as more buttons. and of course dual layer support.

How about "smart recompilation" where if you make rather minor changes to a button or menu that don't result in added or deleted media, it doesn't have to go through a full .VOB recompile (which even if you use appropriate prerendered media (.mpg and .ac3), seems to take a lot more time than it should.

Support for Photoshop file format - layers etc. Like all the competitors in this business have.

Hi,

How about a fix when making menu using NTSC 352x480 project template. The selected text and object are a mess using this template (half-d1).

Can't believe it nearly a year and Sony hasn't fixed this.

Others have already suggested the things I'm interested so I'll just restate them with my reasons for having them -

1) program the bit registers ala DVD Studio Pro so you can create all those random play lists, subtitle menus that "know" when you've changed the subtitle menu with the remote control etc.

2) Improve the subtitle support - I'd only add to the comprehensive list already posted - better multilingual support - full unicode with bidirectional text handling for non left to right languges

3) broader dvd burner support - so I can burn directly to my dvd burner :-}

4) mulit angles - mainly for cool things like alternative language credits or silent film intertitles.

How about being able to purchase it all by itself!!!??? Why does it have to be paired with Vegas 5.0?

Add "How-To" tutorials in HELP files.

Make chapter skip button activate end actions.
Allow color set for individual items instead of just a global page setting.
Delayed buttons.
An intuitive template creator.
And I would also like more control of how DVDA renders the menus.
BeToPR schrieb am 28.01.2005 um 08:43 Uhr
for me only 2 things

1) Button action delay for an animated intros the it ends in the menu without
pausing

2)Support for VOB files this may be the best integration to an update even
if they left the button delay thing ill still love to see VOB suppot because
from all DVD autoring ive used DVDA has been the easiest to sync subtitles
without the need of an external software if DVD-Lab had this feature like
DVDA i wouldnt care if DVD-Lab dont have preview stuffs like DVDA has
i would use DVD-Lab mostly

dts encoding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ScottW schrieb am 30.01.2005 um 19:58 Uhr
You mean support for DTS encoded audio, right? My bet is that most folks using DVDA would not want to pay the price difference that having DTS encoding would put on the product.
SweetPea schrieb am 30.01.2005 um 20:02 Uhr
you make to different versions like steinbergs nuendo. the dts version is just a little more in price. or just make a plugin for it.

they should do something with dts because it will be obsolite soon.

the newest and greatest thing is uhdv
ScottW schrieb am 30.01.2005 um 20:13 Uhr
If dts is going to be obsolete soon (which I seriously doubt), then why bother to put in a DTS encoder (which I certainly don't want to spend the extra money on at this point) or even put in support for DTS audio files?

Licensing for proprietary encoding technologies is not cheap. In my option, DVDA should offer support for including DTS audio in a project but should not support encoding of DTS. If people want to purchase a DTS encoder, then by all means, they should go out and spend that extra $500 they have.

Considering the close ties between Sony and Dolby, I have my doubts they'd add support for a competing format. Anyhow, there's not really much advantage providing one over the other (IMO). Generally, if someone's system supports DTS, it supports Dolby Digital.

Other than the fact that DTS provides lots better audio quality. I wouldn't say "Generally, if" - dolby is required, DTS is optional.

Here here on the option of purchasing/upgrading DVDA as a stand-alone.

I have Vegas 4 and it is much more than I will ever need. I will never need to upgrade Vegas but WILL need to upgrade DVD Architect 1.

Since they don't allow this to be upgraded without upgrading Vegas also, I will eventually have no choice but to move on to a competitor's DVD software since DVDA v1 is already becoming obsolete.

Dual layer support.

Some sort of copy protection.

The Option to not eject DVD when finished burn process.

When the standard arrives, HD DVD.

Ability to set multiple burn numbers.
RobbyBoy schrieb am 08.02.2005 um 14:37 Uhr
Playlists, playlists, playlists. The "trick" to creating Play All functionality is not only a headache, but in my current project is causing an unknown error in the preparation phase (just before it starts rendering). It would be much, much easier to simply specify a list of media that would automatically play one after the other, and then specify an end action for the entire playlist.

I would love to see Sony add Dual Layer support to DVD Architect. I have a Sony VAIO computer with a dual layer burner, and Sony sells the burners separately - yet they bundle them with Nero software! Doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. The only problem now with dual layer burning is trying to find an existing DVD player that will actually play the things. I have tried several models and none of them would read a dual layer disk. I had to finally purchase a Lite-on DVD recorder to be able to play the DL disks. I contacted several companies and none of them that supported +R/+RW formats supported DL. So no matter what the RW Alliance says, it doesn't seem that DL disks are as compatible with existing players as they claim. But I'd still like to have the option so when player are compatible, I can use the DL function.

I would also like to see some sort of copy protection. I create projects for charity events from time to time and the disks are sold for the charities. I hate to think people are buying them and burning their own copies, so some copy protection would be nice.

the newest quality is uhdv (ultra-high def video) the resolution 1600x1200, with 22.2 surround sound. yes it includes the sound.

2 speakers in front
6 speakers around you just above ear level
9 speakers around you at ear level
5 speakers around just below ear level
2 subs

so dts encoding would make a good plug-in. i only buy dvds that have dts track. for example SUPERBIT DVDS for sony.

Option for Animated Buttons that contain transparent backgrounds.

Before you say is already in there, its not, you can only have transparance and masks working if they are not an animated file.

If I am wrong here, help me out, I posted this months ago and the response was "I know it can be done". When push came to shove, no one here seemed to be able to get it to actually work or find a file type that could be imported corectly.

Maybe something that could import Sequenced Images like TGAs would be ideal.
