Indeo Video not supported?!

PH125 schrieb am 18.01.2004 um 06:05 Uhr
When I had my old PC, vegas used to play and render indeo codec video great. But now that I just installed vegas on my new system, it works fine, but it no longer supports the Indeo, and tells me I need to PURCHASE a plug-in! Why is this? Windows movie maker does not import the Indeo as well, even though it used to on my old comp.

Sounds like your new System is missing the Indeo codec.
Can you copy it across from your old one?

Indeo used to be free, and then Ligos bought it. It's not free anymore.

Life sucks. And so does the Indeo codec-- I can't believe they actually ask money for it, and do so with a straight face!

I must admit I've not used Indeo for years.

PH125 - what is your intended output format? - you may find .wmv better.

I prefer to use Huffy. Lossless and looks excellent for conversions.

Yup, I got the same when I tried to input the Canopus [ ? ] Free Loops. My new XP Pro wouldn't have it . . neither any of the XP progs. Sooo... what I did was to open them on my SonicFoundry VideoFactory. Rendered an DV-AVI and then transfered them over to my XP machine. Pain, but it wiorked . .

This issue recently came up in the MovieStudio/VideoFactory forum and an article was added to the Knowledge Base about the fix (hint: search the KB on "Indeo codec" to find it).
