NOT RESPONDING

luk-d schrieb am 13.07.2023 um 17:58 Uhr

I purchased Sony Vegas 20, to edit my 4k footage, and it keeps freezing "Not Responding. I got a brand new laptop ASUS Vivabook Pro 16 OLED so it is strong enough to handle 4K editing, It does in Davinci but, Vegas both 18 and 20 keep crashing.

1 - how can this be fixed

2 - How can I get refund? I literally paid for it today because my SN 18 wash crashing.

Seems like SV has lost its quality. It after SV17 it became way too weak. Too many updated plug ins but they did not focused on making the software powerfull enough to handle 4k footage.

- Options /Preferences/ File I/O and
- the result of Vegas/Help/Check for drivver updates.
Give also MediaInfo of the 4K sourcefiles that freezes Vegas following this tutorial : https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Sony Vegas?

Anyway, you definitely need to give us more data that this to be able to help you. GPU and MediaInfo data are really needed to proceed any further.

If I found the right laptop - then this machine seems to have 16GB ram only. For 4K, 32GB ram are specified as minimum.
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/specifications/

And the Software is strong enough. I edit with my ASUS ProArt 4 K footage in Vegas, and it works fine.

So please give us more information.

So the ram is with 16 GB below spec for 4K, and the GPU has 4 GB only (and is on spec, but not more).

That seems to be a machine suitable for HD, but not so much for UHD. Have you run a test if it works fine with HD footage?

Maybe it is possible to upgrade the ram to 32 GB or higher? Is there a free slot for additional ram? Even if nobody can be sure if that is the only reason why Vegas crashes.

What type of footage are you editing?

So it's a AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with RTX 3050 GPU. That should be good enough for editing 4K videos- if I can do it with a laptop from 2017 you definitely can.

The Ryzen is known to have driver issues so get the latest Radeon Graphics driver here.

Next question is what media you are using. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/
