My build begins in earnest on 10/19/2013..

The Sabertooth x79 board does not have the bios on board that will support the 4th Gen i7 4930k. I have the newest Bios on a flash-drive and will (have to) test the CPU/RAM-less flash capability of the mobo...

Exactly why I kept my 580 from the "old" 2600k rig...absolutely no need to go beyond....yet...

I would like a third monitor spigot for scopes and system diagnostic/temperature info...hmmmm...

OldSmoke and Rhino, it appears that there are few to no GTX5xx to be had anywhere except used or refurb.

Rats. I think I waited too long to upgrade. Is it fair to say that a low-range 6xx will perform similarly as a high-range 5xx?

@David

I would rather say ANY 6xx will NOT be as good as a 5xx simply because of the GPU architecture, Kepler vs. Femi, as well as the drivers required. As of today, there has been no proof that there is a system with a 6xx or 7xx that does better then a 560Ti and higher. Have you tried eBay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-580-ENGTX580-2DI-1536MD5-1-5-GB-GDDR5-SDRAM-PCI-/271313519699?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f2b8bc453
I bought my second GTX570 from eBay and works perfectly fine.

Are you South-East of Houston? I am in Katy.
