Rick, I'm very glad I could help. I'm always jazzed when I have something to offer this community. I take so much, I'm thrilled when I can give back. Glad I could help.
TeeJay, I'm not sure which "plate" you mean. There are several elements; As the camera zooms away from the planet, there is a big ball of light that passes behind the phone number and upper line. This was done in Lightwave with a Volumetric Light. Then, when the last line wipes on, that's obviously PI.
I'm GUESSING you mean the Volume Light. If so, and if you want me to expound on how I did it in Lightwave, I can do that. But if you're only using Vegas and PI, the LW info wouldn't do you much good.
Still, have you goofed with Light Rays in Vegas? It's a pretty fun effect.

The effect that I am chasing is at 17 seconds into your Vid, where the 2 ladies are chatting and the phone number slides in from each side of the screen. It is then "wiped" with light.

Is the lightwave you referred to the Newtech Lightwave3D?

I do use the Vegas Light Rays Plug for a bunch of stuff but it is not exactly the effect I am after.

Thanks for your reply,

T

Ok... I'm with you now.
No... that wasn't done in Vegas. I used Boris Red for that. The light wall you're referring to is actually called a light sweep. Great stuff.
I would imagine it could certainly be done in Vegas with exactly what you mentioned; a cookie cutter and/or some kind of gradient map. I bet Spice could do it, but I have never seen the prog.
If you have Boris (Graffitti may even do it), the Light Sweep filter is what you're after.
Oh... And, yes, that is NewTek's Lightwave I'm referring to for the Volumetric Lights.
