@JN- @set :

Thanks, guys! I was secretly hoping all of you would say HitFilm's NLE sucks! (So that I could hang on to this awesome new toy.) A few nits: I find the keycap-typeface very difficult to read and the layout very unfamiliar (e.g., I am constantly mistyping every other word). Also, really missing full-sized cursor-keys. This laptop's surface has so much real-estate, I don't know why they made them mini-keys.

The touchpad is fairly responsive, and the two-finger gesture-control for right-clicking is actually a nice improvement. Unfortunately, its gesture-control in Vegas doesn't always work as desired (e.g., I would love it if a two-fingered swipe left or right would slide the timeline back and forth).

The changing backlight colors look pretty cool, but sometimes obfuscate function. That said, after reading a few Ryzen 5900HX reviews last night, this machine has me awed. Wasn't aware this was such a high-performance chip! I don't even have the 32GB sticks installed yet!

Vegas is running without a hitch. So far, extremely stable. Can't wait to see how it performs on some of HitFilm's more complex effects. Will probably buy the HitFilm/Ignite Pro package on sale in a few minutes, after I buy the $149 upgrade to Vegas Pro 18/19 Edit. Really looking forward to playing with its layer-compositing feature.

Every NLE has their own surplus.

Maybe 'I have been comfortable with VEGAS Pro tool' is more precise word for me - and I'm just trying to create the best I can do with this tool, but of course I'm not limiting myself with only one tool.

Check if theres a supplied app to allow switching off/changing the keyboard colours or selectively colouring individual keys. The latter I find very useful with my too small chiclet type laptop keys.
