I have been getting random crashes (Vegas has stopped working) primarily when using the keyboard to start\pause. Win 7, i7 6700k, 16GB ram, Radeon 460 with the older 6.09 (?) driver as recommended on this forum a while back. First crashes were ntdll.dll related. One recent crash referenced the gpu, so I turned it off in preferences. Worked for an hour or so with the expected cpu only preview frame rate hit, then crashed with 120k.dll as the fault module. My keyboard is plugged into a motherboard USB port..thought the port might be flakey, so I changed to another USB port, same problem.
I started Vegas with defaults, reset my preferences (minimal stuff: keyboard layout, start\pause instead of start\stop) same as I have used in other versions from 4 on up...same issue. Preview RAM is set the default 200MB.It can happen when just starting\pausing playback a couple of times on a single file wit basic CC and levels...not even multi layered comps. Like I said it's random, but always with the keyboard.
Re-installed Vegas...same deal. This project is only 4 minutes long...720P 30, 1080P 30 and some PNGs on a 720P 30 project timeline. The PNGs are only 1080P size.
My other frequently used programs (Photoshop, Sound Forge, Audacity, Particle Illusion, an old Boris RED 3.0) have no issues using keyboard shortcuts, etc. Malwarebytes finds no problems.
Any suggestions much appreciated. I'm stumped.
